A group of dedicated Ugandan rehabilitation professionals had the opportunity to present about their work on the ReLAB-HS International Rehabilitation Education and Training Toolkit (IRETT) at this year’s World Physiotherapy Africa Region Congress in Cape Town in September 2024. The World Physiotherapy Africa Region Congress in Cape Town this year was a wonderful meeting of professionals from all all over the globe.

During the recent European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE) conference, Physiopedia’s Kateryna Tymruk-Skoropad presented on strengthening physical therapy education in wartime, speaking about her experiences improving the quality of education for physical therapists in Ukraine. The ENPHEis an organisation that brings together European universities providing physical therapy education.

Her clinical background shines through in the thoughtful way she approaches challenges and supports her peers, but it’s her compassion and leadership that truly set her apart.

The IRETT (International Rehabilitation Education and Training Toolkit) has been an invaluable resource in addressing the gaps in education, regulation and clinical practice in Uganda and its potential use across all low-resource settings was shared during the recent World Physiotherapy Africa Region Congress 2024.

As a volunteer Education Focal Point in Myanmar, Hsu Wai has made a lasting impact by connecting and supporting talented physiotherapists. Her warmth and energy are undeniable. Physiopedia Plus (Plus) is now an approved provider for AGENAS, with all online courses on Plus now accredited for continuing education, opening up a whole world of online learning to physiotherapists in Italy with hundreds of courses available to learn in Italian. There are currently around practicing physiotherapists in Italy, who are regulated by the Italian National Agency for Regional Healthcare Services (AGENAS) overseen by the Italian Ministry of Health.

At the Second All-Ukrainian Congress on Physical Therapy, Physiopedia’s Jorge Rodríguez shared with participants how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming clinical decision-making, helping design management programmes and improving communication between professionals and patients and he encouraged discussion of the use of AI for the future of the profession.

Last week the Physiopedia team were very much focused on sharing knowledge related to physiotherapy, rehabilitation and technology, with team members presenting at three different international conferences. The Physiopedia mission is to improve access to physiotherapy and wider rehabilitation knowledge  everywhere in the world, which we do through the Physiopedia, Plus and workforce development activities.
