Lars Kovach provided the assist to Francis, Phillips’ goal came form the penalty spot. Oliver Taylor recorded his 10th shutout of the season. Phillips’ goal total on the year is now 22, good for third in Section V.

Sam Oliver had nine carries for 43 yards and a touchdown. Cam Collins led receivers with four receptions for 40 yards. In the loss, Keagan Calmes ran seven times for 101 yards and a touchdown. Markel Hill had 15 rushes for 60 yards. Hill also added three tackles, three passes defended, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Medina leads Brighton past Churchville-Chili
By PAUL GOTHAM RIGA, N.Y — Six days ago, Steve Lian knew his team needed to have better starts. On Friday night, the Brighton Bruins demonstrated that they understood their coach’s concerns. Justin Medina finished with three touchdowns including a 44-yard jaunt to give Brighton a 14-0 lead after less than seven minutes of game time, and the Bruins (5-0) went on to defeat host Churchville-Chili, 35-13, Friday night.

But Canandaigua Academy football coach Jeff Welch wasn’t surprised with what he saw in Fairport’s 21-7 win Friday night. He wasn’t thrilled, but he wasn’t surprised, either. “We knew we’d have a battle and they gave it us,” Welch said following Friday’s game, which spoiled a festive evening of Homecoming activities at CA Stadium.
