In Australia, we don’t have a whole heap of game events to get to. PAX every year is a banger and there are a few smaller shows that are also fun, but nothing massive.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Co-op Review – A Well Considered Return
It is time for the return of the Master Chief, or as the case may be, the first appearance. Halo: Combat Evolved was a groundbreaking release on the original Xbox all those years ago, and it has been brought back in the form of Halo: Campaign Evolved, hitting PC, Xbox Series and, for the first time (and possibly last, who knows?) PS5.
Swordplay Review – Stick ‘Em
Swordplay comes from Australian indie tabletop designers DoughBros Games comprised of Kyle (designer) and Joel (artist). As their first retail product, they’ve focused on a small box card game which regular readers would realise is catnip to this reviewer. Svelte in form, Swordplay is a two-player only bluffing and hand management game that represents a fencing duel between opponents.
Riftbound Vendetta – Exclusive Card Reveal!
Thanks to Riot Games, Player2 is able to exclusively reveal one of the upcoming cards for the Vendetta wave of Riftbound, launching in game stores on July 31st. This will be the first wave to release at the same time in English and Chinese, so it is sure to shake up the meta more than ever before. Our Reveal card is the ‘Eclipse Dragon’ Unit, a cost 8 Fury. For this cost, it brings a hefty 8 Might to a battlefield, and by using it’s Accelerate ability, it can enter ready and raring to go.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced Review – The Pirate’s Life is Still an Appealing One
Thanks to Ubisoft Australia, Player2 was fortunate enough to obtain a few codes for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the remake of what is perhaps the most beloved franchise entry, the console-generation-straddling 2013 title, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. We set a couple of intrepid assassins (only in-game, don’t worry), editors Matt Hewson and Paul James, out on the high seas to explore how the seas have changed 13 years on.
The Blood of Dawnwalker: Hands-on Preview – The Bloodlust is Real
The idea of the Vampire is one that has captured imaginations for hundreds of years. From the classic Stoker interpretation through to the abomination of Twilight (I will die on this hill), the tale of an immortal being that survives on blood is one that has been tackled from just about every angle. Even in the realm of games, we have been treated to some fantastic interpretations of the myth. From the story of Raziel and Kain to the surprisingly excellent Buffy games.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok Review – A Great Time to Re-link Up With Your Party
For a really long time, Granblue Fantasy: Relink has been on my wishlist to play. I’d known the endgame was a bit of a slog, which some people really enjoyed, but with the DLC coming and promising to revamp some of that grind, I bided my time to enjoy the game as a more complete experience. Unfortunately, lacking the wisdom of exactly how long the endgame content was, I started the save from scratch. Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok has a bit of something for all players.
SETI: Space Agencies Expansion – Rocket Booster
Publisher Czech Games Edition’s 2024 opus SETI, the twin-barrel debut from designer Tomáš Holek alongside Galileo Galilei, rocketed up the BoardGameGeek charts these past two years, cracking the Top 15 for both the Strategy and Overall categories. Now the highest ranked game from CGE after overtaking both Through The Ages: A New Story of Civilization and Lost Ruins of Arnak, it was a safe bet such success would bring with it an array of expansions.
