Like any up and coming actor, Farah Ashraf knows that you can’t always wait for work to come your way - sometimes you need to create your own. That’s why, for as long as Farah’s been honing her acting craft, she’s also been performing spoken word, producing shows, and writing her own plays. Her new one-woman show Pink Rabbit, which Farah is taking to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, is the result of this multi-pronged approach. At its heart, Pink Rabbit is a show about performance.

When Clueless came out in 1995, Cher’s digital wardrobe was aspirational. She could browse all the items in her wardrobe on a software that helped her choose an outfit in a matter of seconds, and she was good to go. Wardrobe crises and feeling like you have nothing to wear in front of a pile of overflowing clothes is a too-real problem, so, even if it was just an animation, Cher’s digital wardrobe was something girls around the world felt they needed.

In the nineties, my dad made a feature film called The Imitators, funded in (let's say) "creative ways." Mum's still pissed he used all their money while they lived in a council house sinking from subsidence. Dad, after winning a Fujifilm cinematography award, hasn't given up his BAFTA dream. He just finished another self-funded documentary, filmed between painting-and-decorating shifts. He recently fell off a ladder.
