The RPI Wrestling Team requested a $3,978 subsidy to reimburse team members who participated in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Tournament. Originally the Union subsidized $4,000 of the total expenses of participating, but the total cost of the trip amounted to $15,955.39. The additional $3,978 would reduce the cost of attending to $7,977.70, meaning each participant would have to pay $919.65.

A brace of goals and assists from senior Tyler Ruffini were not enough to spark Rensselaer’s offense in a 13-7 loss to rivals Union over the weekend. Rensselaer began Liberty League play away against Skidmore in a test between two nationally ranked teams. Unfortunately, the Engineers returned home with a 16-12 loss and intent to notch their first win against Union.

Grand Marshal Week has for years served as a spirit week for the student body of RPI, bringing with it a string of events to adorn the tradition. This year featured a series of “Mystery Mayhem” themed events throughout the Student Union and beyond. UPAC’s Union After Dark kicked off the week on Monday night, turning the McNeil room into a casino with games of roulette and blackjack taking the floor and prizes including a JBL speaker, Squishmallows, and more.

Project Hail Mary is a movie about having hope when all seems lost and the power of friendship. The film itself is beautiful, both in visuals and sound, but the underlying theme about working together really makes it special and makes you cry. I read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, the book the movie is based on, a couple of years ago in about a day. It was a Christmas present I finished before I even came home from my relatives’ place.

In the latest closed-door meeting among the School of Architecture’s leadership, held within the staff lounge and followed by lukewarm microwaved burritos, many changes were decided upon. The biggest change was to extend the program to a 6-year degree, as the current 5-year program was deemed too short for current students. This came after deep analysis into the student “crashout” tracker, a spreadsheet that faculty and students contributed to.

In a shocking turn of events, a change to the campus master plan sees RPI to forgo plans for the JEC walkway in favor of a giant slide. The slide, which will be purchased from Costco, will be painted RPI Red and be the main path of transportation from JEC to the rest of campus. Students are required to take this pathway on their daily walk to classes and tour guides will be instructed to take prospective students across the slide.
