She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Nigel and David, her grandchildren, Austin and Aaron, as well as relatives and friends. Kinsmen Club summer concert attracts crowd
GOOD music, happy families, and lots of community members filled Kinsmen Park on Saturday as the Kinsmen Club of Port Dover hosted an outdoor concert to raise funds for a splash pad in the park. The Jesse Murphy Band and Killin’ Time Band performed for three hours each, with live music stretching from 2 to 9 p.m. Food prepared by 1st Port Dover Scouts and drinks and snacks at the Kinsmen’s snack shack were available throughout the event. “Everyone’s having fun.

Claire George William Hammond September 15, 1936 – August 28, 2026 It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Just a couple of weeks shy of his 90th birthday, Claire lived a full, active, and healthy life right up to the end. Last week, we learned that he was in need of heart valve replacement surgery. Sadly, his heart gave out before he was able to receive the procedure.

John Luke LUKE, John – with profound sadness, the family of John Luke Jr. announce his passing at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday, August 26, at the age of 72, following a lengthy illness. John was predeceased by his parents John (2022) and Shirley (2023) and by his mother-in-law Marjorie Durrant (2025). He is survived by his loving partner Kim Durrant, and his brothers Earl (Mary Lou), Charlie (Diane), Dave, Rob (late Michele) and Ed (Angela).
Norfolk County election set for October 26
THE race is on. Nominations closed Friday for the Oct. 26 elections for Norfolk County Council and local school boards. A last-minute surge of 11 candidates ensured all seats will be contested, except two trustees’ positions on French-language school boards. Seven people are running for mayor. Three of them live in Port Dover. They are psychotherapist David Finch; Keith Milner, president of the Waterfront Preservation Association; and incumbent Port Dover councillor Adam Veri.

Linda James Linda Margaret James, 72, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, artist, and lifelong lover of animals. Linda shared 55 years of marriage with her husband, Terence, building a life and family together filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. In 1981, Linda and Terry emigrated from Wales to Canada with their family, beginning a new chapter of their lives and making Canada their home.
