It’s an apt title because, while it again stars Tom Holland in his fourth outing as the superhero, Peter Parker is a changed man. He’s dealing with loss, regret and fractured relationships with the love of his life, MJ (Zendaya), and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon). The changes extend behind the camera as well.

The Netflix sitcom Leanne follows Leanne (comedian Leanne Morgan), whose husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Devastated but determined not to let the world see how much it hurts, Leanne leans on her freewheeling sister, Carol (Kristen Johnston), while also trying to keep up appearances for her children and parents. The show is co-written and co-executive produced by Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mom).

Untold Studios has appointed Adrianna “AJ” Cohen as president of Film & Episodic VFX, marking the next step in the independent global creative studio’s growth. The Film & Episodic division’s recent work includes Remarkably Bright Creatures, the Emmy-nominated Alien: Earth and the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 4. Cohen will lead Untold’s Film & Episodic VFX business globally, working across the studio’s network in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, London and Mumbai.

ActionVFX has launched “VFX for Filmmakers,” a practical online course designed for non-VFX video professionals (directors, editors, cinematographers and solo creators) who want to independently execute high-impact visual effects for commercial, music video and indie film productions. As client expectations rise and production budgets tighten, working video professionals are increasingly tasked with handling visual effects without a dedicated VFX studio.

The new Apple TV series Cape Fear could be called a reimagining of the 1991 Martin Scorsese-directed film of the same name, which starred Robert De Niro as Max Cady, a convicted rapist who stalks his lawyer’s family after being released from prison. Both the 1991 film and the TV series follow Cady’s return and his revenge on the lawyer connected to his conviction, but the series shifts the family relationship and takes the legal/hostility dynamics in fresh directions.

While they might have superpowers, they use them for fame, power and to fill their own pockets. They are corrupt and violent and led by the evil and unstable Homelander. But there is another group, called The Boys, including the good-hearted Hughie, that is trying to take them down. The Boys has had its share of Emmy nominations and wins over its five-season run.

Cinematographer and photographer Paul Kothe has released the latest version of a macOS app called Offline Files, which indexes files on external, network and selected cloud volumes so that users can search the archive even when an external drive is disconnected. It is designed for filmmakers, editors and anyone whose work has outgrown a single drive. The problem is familiar in creative work. A client asks for a clip, photo or project from two years ago.
