US hydropower output to rise in 2026 despite western snow shortfall
US hydropower generation is expected to recover in 2026, even as snow drought conditions in parts of the western US constrain water availability, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). In its April Short-Term Energy Outlook, the agency forecasts output will rise by 5% to 259 billion kilowatt-hours, up from 245 billion kilowatt-hours in 2025. Despite the increase, generation will remain 1.8% below the ten-year average and account for around 6% of total US electricity supply.
Vestas secures 70MW order amid Bulgaria wind revival

Vestas has secured a 70MW order from Tessa Green Energy to supply 11 EnVentus V162‑6.4MW turbines for the Strazhitsa wind project in Bulgaria, with a long‑term Active Output Management 5000 service agreement included. The scheme is one of the first major wind awards in the country after a long market pause and is seen as a milestone in the revival of Bulgaria’s onshore wind sector.
