Murray Bridge residents are being asked whether the region needs tougher rules around cat ownership, as the Rural City of Murray Bridge considers its future approach to cat management. Council has launched a community survey seeking feedback on roaming cats, responsible ownership, their impact on residents and the local environment, and possible management measures. The consultation follows a council decision in June to engage with the community on whether changes are needed.

A man has died and several people have been seriously injured in crashes across South Australia over the long weekend. A 23-year-old man from Salisbury Heights died at the scene of a three-vehicle crash on Gorge Road at Paracombe about 12.50pm on Monday, the 5th of October. Police and emergency services were called after a Yamaha motorcycle collided with a Mitsubishi sedan and Subaru sedan near Kangaroo Creek Reservoir.

In the early hours of Sunday, 4th of October, they charged a 46-year-old Victorian man with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence) and strangulation in a domestic setting.

A World War II artillery shell found on a Sunshine Coast beach has been destroyed in a controlled blast that woke nearby residents before dawn. The unexploded round was discovered just before midnight on Saturday at the base of a dune on Wurtulla Beach. Sean Mackney and a friend came across it while walking his dog. His friend called out that she thought she had found a bomb. Curious, Mackney picked the object up before he realised what it was. “The sheer weight of it was massive,” he told the ABC.
