The women’s lacrosse inaugural season has officially come to a close, and with that, four Pioneers received Mountain East Conference women’s lacrosse postseason honors. Andrea Kinger was named on the All-MEC second team and All-Freshman team. Kiley Leasure joined Kinger on the All-Freshman team. Taylor Desko and Ava Miller were both named All-MEC Honorable Mentions at midfield and defense, respectively. “I am so impressed with [the women] for earning All-Conference Honors,” coach Erik Ingram said.
New students required to live on-campus during their first and second year
Starting in the fall 2026 semester, incoming new students will be required to live on campus for their first year and their sophomore year at Point Park. Previously, sophomores were permitted to live in off-campus housing and still be enrolled full-time at Point Park. Keith Paylo, dean of student affairs, confirmed the change and said it does not apply to students currently enrolled in the university. For rising sophomores, this means they will be allowed to move off-campus without restrictions.

SGA strikes down Turning Point USA club application in final meeting of semester
The idea of Point Park’s own Turning Point USA (TPUSA) branch was struck down Monday, after SGA senators unanimously opposed a constitution formalizing it as a student organization. TPUSA caused a firestorm earlier this semester after local organizer Colin Dowd set up a table for the right-wing advocacy group near Village Park. A sign of Dowd’s was stolen and insults were thrown — both in-person and virtually.
The Globe’s 2025-2026 editor-in-chief says farewell to Point Park
How do you even start something like this? Nothing could possibly sum up the last near four years properly whether this ends up being 50 words, 500 words or even 5,000 words. But one thing’s for certain, this was a life-changing experience. Journalism was always the hopeful plan, but it didn’t seem like an option I was able to take until I got here. My high school’s only version of “news” was a glorified morning announcements video posted on YouTube, made up of a few comedy skits.

COPA Corner: Being in your place, not being a placeholder
Sometimes after working in a rehearsal space extensively, you realize you’ve stopped feeling like a true artist and started feeling like a placeholder in the room. You’re hitting the steps, standing where you’re told, doing exactly what’s asked, but none of it feels like it belongs to you. It can start to feel like you’re being used — not in a malicious way, but in a way that makes you question your value in the process.
The East End Food Co-op continues to serve the Pittsburgh community
When it seems like every other company is resisting inclusivity and transparency, there is one grocery store doubling down on its values. Tucked just behind Penn Avenue in the Point Breeze neighborhood, the East End food co-op has been a staple of the Pittsburgh community for over 40 years, stocking specialty items created by small businesses and locally grown produce all while keeping costs low for their customers.
Hot Tea with Z: Finishing it all up
How do I get everything done before the end of the semester? What do I prioritize in my work load? How can I get the most out of my time? What is the best way for me to study? How much time should I take for myself? How can I make time for fun things when my schedule is overloaded? I want to start by apologizing for missing last week, I had to take some time for personal matters. But it goes along really well with the amazing questions for this week.
Market Square officially reopens after a year of repairs, upgrades
After being closed for over a year, Market Square is open for business after its second transformation in a little over 15 years was completed last Wednesday. This time, the public square is meant to cater even more to pedestrians than before. Areas which were once cobblestone roads have been replaced with gray pavers level with the sidewalk, with the only place accessible to cars being near the Original Oyster House. If needed, the square can be closed off completely to cars.
