The 2029 class continues to take shape, and after another round of evaluations, several young defensive prospects have earned their way onto the radar. With the season getting underway, we're starting to see which players can translate their physical tools and offseason potential into varsity production.

Following last season's disappointing 1-10 record, the Wildcats officially tabbed Fetrow (he's been a Deming police officer for 20 years) as their new head coach in late June. So, he hasn't had a lot of time to get things together for the 2026 season.

The 2029 defensive class is still early in its development, but several young prospects are already beginning to separate themselves. As these freshmen and sophomores gain varsity experience, we're starting to see the combination of size, athleticism, physicality, and natural instincts that could translate to the next level.
