Thirty years since the release of AcCult, Vanden Plas’ first acoustic EP, the band returns with part 2 and a new collection of acoustic songs which includes some new versions of their own songs, as well as two acoustic covers – a lively take on Styx’s “Boat on the River” as well as Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” performed hauntingly on piano.
Deep Purple – Splat! (Album Review)
by Prog Nick With a generous helping of no less than thirteen original new tracks, Deep Purple’s new studio album ‘Splat’ (the band’s 24th) certainly does make a statement about Purple’s ongoing relevance. In fact it might be the album that ushers in yet another renaissance for the band. Even on the first run-through of ‘Splat’, there is a sense of re-invigoration that permeates the album, off-set by the regularity of familiar sounds that any self-respecting classic Purple fan would demand.

Elder – Through Zero (Album Review)
by Dave Campbell Emerging from a small coastal town in Massachusetts nearly two decades ago, psychedelic proggers Elder have continually evolved well beyond their early roots in stoner and doom metal. Across seven studio albums, the band has developed a distinctive sound that blends elements of progressive rock, psychedelia, and heavy rock into something unmistakably their own.

If These Trees Could Talk – The Hidden Hand (Album Review)
by Dave Campbell Instrumental music can be polarizing to some fans, especially to the gatekeeping Metal community. It seems more palatable to Progressive Rock fans, who are used to long instrumental passages on some of the songs they love. Let’s take a deeper look at this. Vocals and lyrics are immediately accessible to most fans. You can sing along with them, and the lyrics can often echo things that you are thinking about and feeling. I often find deeper meaning when lyrics and vocals are absent.
