Meet Michigan’s next history-making Congressman Welcome to a Tuesday edition of Progress Report. It’s been eleven days since my last newsletter, which should be a good indicator of how my recovery from this latest open-heart surgery is going (in a word, it’s been a slog). Three high-risk surgeries in less than three years have left me pretty beat up, and while I’ll refuse to not recover, it’s just gonna take a while.

Smackdown in Missouri Welcome to a Friday edition of Progress Report. How do I know I’m a bit of a maniac? It’s still early in my recovery from heart surgery and the only thing that makes me squirm more than the pain in my chest is watching news about democracy tick by from the sidelines. I need to rest and keep the blood pressure down, but when the news is big and my body allows for it, I’ll pop in to explain developments in stories that I’ve been covering for you at Progress Report.

An update from New York Welcome to a Tuesday edition of Progress Report. My wife and I returned to New York last night after two weeks in Cleveland, where I underwent my third open-heart surgery in three years and seventh overall.

Another surgery down The Cleveland Clinic is one of the best aortic hospitals in the world, but a seventh open-heart surgery seems to be a rare event even here. I’m not sure whether it makes me a medical marvel, but I’m happy to report that I underwent my latest open-heart surgery on Wednesday and am now on the mend.
