Liverpool ONE goes big ahead of British Open’s arrival
As the eyes of the golfing world turn to Liverpool City Region this week for the 154th British Open at Royal Birkdale, a giant 1,000 square metre portrait of local golfing legend Tommy Fleetwood has been unveiled in the city centre. The 40m x 25m art work has been created on the grass at Chavasse Park at Liverpool ONE to celebrate the start of the world’s oldest golf tournament.
Manchester Doorbell Detectives indie gets the chop as Banijay-All3 “mega merger” wields the axe
Manchester-based indie Purple Productions, the force behind BBC amateur sleuthing smash Doorbell Detectives, is the first casualty of the newly announced “mega-indie” merger between Banijay and All3Media. The two completed their merger last week, creating a new London-based production and distribution giant that makes and sells shows including The Traitors, Big Brother, MasterChef and Peaky Blinders. The combined $8BN entity will be called Banijay Entertainment.
Autotrader: EV vs petrol price differential nears zero as Electric Car Grant and Middle East turmoil shift consumer behaviour
One year on from the launch of the Electric Car Grant (ECG), new data from Autotrader shows the average price gap between a new electric vehicle and a new petrol car has narrowed from £1,935 to just £40. For two months (March and April 2026) new EVs were actually cheaper than the average new petrol car for the first time (£455 cheaper in April). Figures are based on average pricing across all new models, and include discounts and grants.

Wholesale changes at Radio One daytime as six presenters set to leave
Daytime programming changes are coming to BBC Radio 1, with six presenters departing. Rickie and Melvin will leave Radio 1 after seven years, along with Dean McCullough, Nat O’Leary, James Cusack and Swarzy. Taking over from the departees, Mylo and Rosie will handle weekday Early Breakfast every day from 4am until 7am, having first appeared through Radio 1’s presenter development initiative in 2025, and previously a big hit in West Yorkshire on Pulse 1.
