Whether you’re a front of house mixer, a systems engineer, a technical ministry leader or just someone on a tech crew, there are some universal concepts I’ve found to work well over the years at my various jobs thus far. For one thing, leadership comes in many forms. Sometimes it’s the president of the company providing leadership, sometimes it’s the janitor. It’s more attitude than anything, and to a large extent is about what we have to offer in a given situation rather than our title.

Bose Professional has announced the launch of ShowTime STS118E, a new installation-grade 18-inch subwoofer designed to match the scale and voicing of the company’s loudspeaker systems, such as AMU, AMM, and Forum, in delivering low-frequency output in indoor and outdoor environments. “ShowTime STS118E gives our customers an easy way to add serious low-frequency energy to the systems they already trust,” says John Maier, CEO of Bose Professional.

SoundTube Entertainment has announced that its U.S.-made CM62-BGM-II-US and IPD-CM62-BGM-II-US in-ceiling loudspeakers are now shipping, providing consultants and integrators with TAA- and BAA-compliant options for projects requiring domestic sourcing. Manufactured in SoundTube’s Lenexa, Kansas facility as part of the company’s Made in America initiative, the new 6.5-inch coaxial ceiling loudspeakers are built on SoundTube’s CM62 platform.

Linea Research has announced the appointment of Audio-Technica as its distribution partner for the German and Spanish markets, bringing the company’s power amplifier and DSP platforms to customers across both regions through Audio-Technica’s established sales and support network. As part of the Focusrite Audio Reproduction Group, the appointment sees Linea Research join a portfolio that already encompasses sister brands, Martin Audio, TiMax and Optimal Audio.

Early Bird registration is now open for AES Show Nashville 2026, slated for October 30–November 1 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, with discounted rates available through August 27. In addition, the Call for Submissions is open for peer-reviewed papers, express papers, JAES papers, workshops and tutorials. Proposals are due by July 17, giving researchers, engineers and educators a chance to shape the program and share their work with the audio community.

M&W Pro Audio, a new entity recently founded by Greg Mackie and Peter Watts, has announced the appointment of Phillip Bunch as chief executive officer, where he brings professional audio manufacturing, operations, executive leadership, and global supply chain experience to the new role.

I never used to understand why people thought John Bonham was the greatest drummer to ever exist, but while watching his “Moby Dick” drum solo in 1973, it hit me. His charisma, energy, vibrancy and mastery behind the drum set brought so much life to the music. Instead of seeing his small imperfections as weaknesses, I was able to see they were his biggest strengths. And with this knowledge I was able to learn that every drummer has his own spark that is worth exploring and bringing to life.

The 2026 edition of the Libera Awards, held annually to honor independent musicians as well as the teams that support them, was held recently at Gotham Hall in New York City, with a main sound reinforcement system headed by CODA Audio ViRAY arrays supporting live performances by Mdou Moctar, Valerie June, Dawn Richard, and Aaron Maine of Porches. The system was supplied by production specialists Eastern Stage Productions (ESP) of New York, the exclusive audio provider for Gotham Hall.

Following an earlier installation of 1 SOUND loudspeakers at Holt Renfrew’s ON 3 experiential floor, the luxury retailer recently expanded its investment in audio with a second deployment at its flagship Toronto location on Bloor Street East, partnering once again with GAV MGMT to elevate the in-store experience. The project focused on creating an audio environment that complemented the retailer atmosphere while maintaining the clean architectural vision developed by STUDIO PAOLO FERRARI.
