For the past decade, PRRI has tracked Americans’ support for or opposition to three key LGBTQ-related policies: nondiscrimination laws, religiously based service refusals, and same-sex marriage.

This Spotlight Analysis uses new PRRI data collected from February 10-18, 2026, to examine recent changes in President Donald Trump’s favorability ratings through the lenses of party, religious affiliation, Christian nationalism, race, and age.[1] A year into the second Trump administration, our latest data show that 36% of Americans hold favorable views of Donald Trump, down from 40% in September 2025, while six in ten Americans view Trump unfavorably (60%).

The survey was designed and conducted by PRRI. The survey was made possible through the generous support of the Wilbur & Hilda Glenn Family Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Unitarian Universalist Veatch Program at Shelter Rock. The survey was carried out among a random representative sample of 22,111 adults (age 18 and up) living in all 50 states in the United States.

Society Is Too Soft and Feminine More than four in ten Americans (42%) agree that society as a whole has become too soft and feminine, while a majority disagree (54%). Agreement has slightly increased from 38% in 2011, when the question was first asked. The partisan divide has widened sharply, increasing from 23 points in 2011 to 47 points today.

In the 2010s, the term “exvangelical” emerged to refer to individuals who have left evangelicalism and who have chosen to join non-evangelical Christian traditions, embrace non-Christian beliefs, or leave religion entirely. The exvangelical community has gained visibility in recent years as former believers increasingly share their stories. While the reasons why exvangelicals left vary, they often cite disappointment with church teachings, particularly the treatment of LGBTQ people.

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were fatally shot in their home, following the earlier shooting and wounding of Minnesota state Senator John Hoffman and his wife at their residence. According to those who knew the attacker, he held strong religious convictions and conservative political views and had connections to Christ for the Nations Institute, a charismatic “Spirit-filled” Bible school.

As the 250th anniversary of the United States Army approaches, which also coincides with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday, Washington is preparing to mark the occasion with a large-scale military parade featuring thousands of U.S. soldiers, Army vehicles, planes, and fireworks on June 14, 2025. However, concerns are growing as the cost of this event continues to rise, with the current estimate totaling approximately $45 million.
