Congratulations to Fiona Macken
Fiona joined the CFA as a volunteer firefighter in 2007 said her training as an Emergency Medical Technician in America drew her to volunteering in Australia. “When I moved to Australia, I joined SES and then when I moved to where I live now, I joined CFA,” Fiona said. “I became an operational member in 2008 which was not long before the Black Saturday 2009 fires which impacted areas very close to where I live.

WE’RE MAKING THE SWITCH
Excited to finally be able to announce we’re making the switch to 886 AM ahead of our new program grid launching next week. Station President Craig Wright said in making the announcement that “the cost of living is really hurting people and that means not everyone can afford a FM tuner.” “With our new programs starting from April 11 to coincide with NFNL matches and a few tweaks to our schedule, the time is right so we can reach more people on the AM band”.

Radio Grooves to Eltham Jazz Festival
Recognised as one of the Top 20 best jazz festivals in the southern hemisphere, this year’s festival will again be held at Eltham on Friday February 27 and Saturday February 28 in the Town Square precinct.
Behind the scenes of an emergency broadcaster
As part of World Radio Day, the team at Vic Emergency visited our station to promote the important work of emergency broadcasters like us in keeping the community informed and safe. As natural disasters emerge and occur, our role is to provide information in a calm, concise and accurate way, and build resilience in the community. We also play a role in suppprting the community in the recovery phase post incident.
Rob Hirst Tribute on Classic Rock Class
Tune in to Classic Rock Class this Sunday with Craig Madden, when presenter Richard Donelly will be hosting a special hour tribute to Rob Hirst from 4pm as part of the show. The Midnight Oil drummer recently lost a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A founding member of Midnight Oil, Rob has also had an influence in blues music. Join Richard on a journey showcasing Rob’s musical legacy. Classic Rock Class airs each Sunday between 2-5pm, with an encore presentation Wednesdays from 9am – Noon.
