Louisa County, Va: Write In Louisa, a group for writers and aspiring writers ages 18 and over, has announced that author and poet Katherine Mercurio Gotthardt, M.Ed., will read from her most recent book, The World Has Changed from When I Last was Here, February 5, 2025 at Louisa Arts Center, Louisa, Virginia. Gotthard will also lead attendees in a discussion on poetry’s relevance and how to use poetic devices to strengthen writing of all genres.

‘We All Might Be Witches’ Supports Youth with Autism, Neurodivergence
Award-winning poet and author Katherine Mercurio Gotthardt announced her 12th book, We All Might Be Witches, an illustrated collection of micropoems released by MacKenzie Publishing. Gotthardt, inspired by her son, wrote the book to honor those with autism spectrum disorder and conditions considered cognitive or emotional disabilities. “The word ‘disability’ attached to how someone’s brain works can hold negative weight,” said Gotthardt, who has a background in education.

In Letter, McClellan Urges Board of Education to Reject Latest Revisions to History and Social Studies Standards of Learning
In a letter sent yesterday, Sen. Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond) urged the Virginia Board of Education to reject the Department of Education’s proposed revised Virginia History and Social Science Standards of Learning. McClellan called on the Board to move forward instead with the standards presented to the Board in August, which were developed by a panel of experts in a nearly two-year process with the input of community members, parents and educators.
