Residents across Renfrewshire are being encouraged to put forward ideas for improvements in their local area as part of the second year of the YouDecide Tenants Fund. The fund will see £600,000 invested in projects suggested by tenants and residents and voted for by council tenants over three years, giving local people a direct say in how money is spent in their communities.

Mental health campaigner and Scotland supporter Craig Ferguson has been awarded Renfrewshire’s highest civic honour, the Freedom of Renfrewshire, at a civic reception held in Paisley Town Hall on Thursday 17 September. The Freedom of Renfrewshire is an honorary title and the highest civic honour that can be bestowed upon an individual or group. It has only been awarded six times previously.

Renfrewshire Council is launching a new business award to celebrate local businesses that have helped shape Renfrewshire’s economy and communities through trading for a 100 years or more. The Renfrewshire Legacy Recognition Awards formally recognise businesses that have made a lasting impact on the area through years of sustained trading, job creation, innovation, investment and community leadership.

Cocaine with an estimated street value of £150,000 has been recovered in Glasgow. Around 7.45pm on Thursday 17 September, 2026 officers acting on intelligence stopped the occupants of two cars on Gartocher Terrace, Glasgow. During a search of the vehicles, a significant quantity of the Class A drug was discovered. Two men, aged 42 and 54, were arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences. Both are due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 18 September, 2026.

A man has been charged with culpable and reckless conduct following reports relating to the use of a jet ski on Loch Lomond. The incidents happened on Sunday 21, Tuesday 23, and Wednesday 24 June 2026, near Luss Pier, Loch Lomond. A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal. Inspector Colin Cameron said: “Loch Lomond is a shared space for everyone to enjoy respectfully. We work closely with the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority to keep it safe for all users.

By Ricky Kelly Renfrew recorded their first league win of the season on Wednesday night, 16 September, with a 3-1 victory over Pollok at Newlandsfield in the Lowland League West, handing the home side their first defeat of the campaign. Jordan Moore, 16-year-old Ruari Duff and Oliver Smith were on target for Renfrew, with Duff scoring on his debut while on loan from St Mirren.

Burgh manager Stevie Farrell made three changes from the starting XI that played in the 4-4 draw against Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood Stadium last Saturday (12th September).

Community groups and organisations across Renfrewshire are invited to apply for funding to run free activities that help connect people with others during the winter months. Renfrewshire Council’s Winter Connections Fund offers grants up to £2,000 to support local organisations to provide places  for people to come together and take part in activities. The funding can be used to cover costs such as venue hire, food, equipment, cleaning and staffing.
