REA at London Climate Action Week 2026 What a week it’s been! As London Climate Action Week comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a whirlwind of events. From venue to venue, the REA team joined industry leaders and policymakers to help drive the conversation on the clean energy transition. In partnership with Field, Watt Communities Want explored how meaningful engagement can put communities at the heart of the clean energy transition.

Cross-party BioRevolution Coalition launches with Parliamentary petition to unlock the UK’s multi-trillion-pound bioeconomy A new campaign calls on the Government to level the playing field for UK bio-based industries, warning that the UK is the only G7 nation without a national bioeconomy strategy. Convened by the Bio-based Industries Association (BBIA), the BioRevolution Coalition is a campaign that launched on 9th June 2026 and is backed by MPs from across the House of Commons.

Industry calls for policy reforms to unlock AI growth while strengthening Britain’s electricity system, drawing on evidence from the International Energy Agency, NESO, National Grid Partners, NVIDIA and the Alan Turing Institute to show that intelligent, flexible computing infrastructure supports economic growth and the energy transition.

REA unveils the winners of the British Renewable Energy Awards 2026, the flagship celebration of achievement across the UK renewable energy sector. Industry trailblazers recognised across 19 award categories for their outstanding contributions to the clean energy transition. This year’s ceremony marked the 21st edition of the British Renewable Energy Awards and coincided with the REA’s 25th anniversary year.

This report, commissioned by eleven leading energy trade bodies including Solar Energy UK, presents the findings of a nationally indicative survey of 996 UK adults, including respondents across all political voting affiliations. The organisations behind this polling represent the breadth of the UK’s clean energy economy – from wind, solar and storage to heat, bioenergy, hydrogen, carbon capture, nuclear and demand flexibility.

The REA joins over 50 leading businesses, trade associations and  professional bodies in writing to DEFRA Secretary of State Emma Reynolds urging for publication of the delayed Circular Economy Growth Plan. The letter warns ongoing delay will “harm momentum towards a more resilient, resource efficient economy.” Find the full letter here.

The Renewable Energy Association (REA) unveils the full list of finalists for the 2026 British Renewable Energy Awards (BREAs), marking both the 25th anniversary of the REA and the 21st edition of the Awards since their inception in 2006. The 2026 Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner will take place in the Ballroom Suite at the Sheraton Grand, Park Lane, in the heart of Mayfair on Thursday, 11th June.

What looks like everyday rubbish such as fruit and vegetable peelings, leftover meals (even meat), tea bags, eggshells, or slices of mouldy bread, can all be given a second life.

As England’s food waste collections move rapidly from policy into practice, the Organics Recycling industry has been busy preparing to ensure there is enough treatment capacity. Judging the treatment capacity that will be needed is tricky as it depends on two moving targets: how much food waste will actually be collected, and how much treatment capacity is genuinely available to process it.
