Shane van Gisbergen was comfortable and confident enough Sunday night at North Wilkesboro Speedway to have a lighthearted moment seconds after taking the race lead. “I’m leading,” he said on his Trackhouse Racing team radio. “What the (expletive) do I do now?” It was a rhetorical question and a comedic moment for all who were listening. Van Gisbergen, of course, knows how to lead NASCAR races, but doing so on an oval is still relatively new to him.
Logano dominates return to NASCAR points racing at North Wilkesboro
Joey Logano had a gleam in his eye and a lilt in his voice as he readied to climb into the No. 22 Team Penske Ford for the start of Sunday night’s Window World 450. “I think we have a fast car,” Logano opined optimistically before taking the green flag in the first NASCAR Cup Series points race at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 30 years. Logano was right, but his assessment turned out to be a massive understatement.
Hamlin content with North Wilkesboro turnaround after extending point lead
Denny Hamlin entered North Wilkesboro Speedway with PTSD from some awful performances at the track. Fortunately, those races didn’t count because they were All-Star Race events, and even better, they didn’t carry over into Sunday night when points were on the line. Hamlin ran inside the top five all night and finished second in the first NASCAR Cup Series points race in Wilkes County in nearly 30 years.
Vandergriff, Kalitta and G. Stanfield enjoy NHRA victories at Sonoma
Funny Car newcomer Jordan Vandergriff won for the second time this season for John Force Racing in front of a sellout crowd on Sunday at Sonoma Raceway, defeating Daniel Wilkerson in the final round of the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge. Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel) and Greg Stanfield (Pro Stock) also won at the 11th of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season as NHRA celebrated three straight days of sellout crowds at the standout facility.
IndyCar race at Nashville postponed to Monday due to weather
IndyCar’s Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway has been postponed until Monday due to bad weather. FOX gave a provisional start time of 3 p.m. for the rescheduled event before its broadcast signed off; however, full details of the revised schedule are still being finalized. The race had been due to start shortly after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Final, but the event was already under a weather hold due to lightning before the match ended.
Brabham sweeps Trans Am Watkins Glen doubleheader
This season, the Trans Am Series by Pirelli has hosted a pair of doubleheaders – one at Sonoma, and one this weekend at Watkins Glen – and after a dominant victory on Sunday, Matthew Brabham, driving the No. 16 Gym Soda Ford Mustang for Chris Dyson Racing, has swept them both.
Nannini leads 1-2 finish for Cape in Indy NXT at Nashville
Matteo Nannini earned his second victory of the Indy NXT by Firestone season in the Music City Grand Prix on Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway, and this one meant much more than his first. Pole-sitter Nannini led a 1-2 finish for Cape Motorsports Powered by ECR, driving his No. 20 Enve Motorsports car to a 5.6449s victory over teammate Nikita Johnson in the No. 21 machine.
Learning on the fly: How drivers and teams fit Spa into F1’s 2026 power puzzle
As teams, drivers and fans get more and more used to the style of racing on offer from the 2026 Formula 1 regulations, the less it becomes a talking point each weekend. It felt like the only topic during the opening rounds of the season, but after tweaks ahead of Miami to try and improve how much super-clipping is required on a qualifying lap – effectively slowing down to try and go faster later in the lap – the weight of the focus started to shift onto different matters.
Ferrari fined over mechanic incident as Hamilton rues penalty, damage
Lewis Hamilton disagreed with the penalty he received for contact with George Russell during the Belgian Grand Prix, but avoided further sanction as Ferrari has been fined for an incident that saw a mechanic hit in the pit lane. Russell tried to overtake Hamilton around the outside into Les Combes on the opening lap at Spa-Francorchamps, with Hamilton correcting a snap of oversteer that pitched the Mercedes into a spin and out of the race.
Antonelli downplays big point lead after ‘lucky’ Spa gain
Kimi Antonelli isn't putting much stock in his big world championship lead, saying big swings in points could continue after counting himself lucky to pull out a sizable advantage once again by winning the Belgian Grand Prix. The Italian had retired from two of the previous three races to see his championship advantage reduced to 25 points over teammate George Russell, and 32 over Lewis Hamilton.
