Zane Smith left no room for interpretation or confusion about his feelings towards Carson Hocevar when asked about the animosity between the two. “I just don’t like him as a human,” Smith said Saturday at EchoPark Speedway. Smith ran into the back of Hocevar on lap 32 of last weekend’s race at Chicagoland Speedway. The contact knocked Hocevar sideways, and he bounced off the wall. Smith also ended up with damage. “I just tried to move him off the bottom,” said Smith of the incident.
Shane van Gisbergen and Austin Hill seemingly had different takeaways from their meeting with NASCAR early Saturday at EchoPark Speedway. Van Gisbergen acknowledged it was a serious talk and that he was more remorseful and eager to move on than Hill. It was the first time the Trackhouse Racing driver had ever been called to the NASCAR hauler, which came a week after he spun Hill at Chicagoland Speedway.
Ryan Blaney led a Team Penske qualifying sweep Saturday afternoon to lock down the front row for the NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark Speedway. Blaney won the pole with a lap of 179.912 mph (30.815s). It is his second pole of the season and 14th of his career, and the second time Blaney will lead the field to the green flag at EchoPark Speedway (2025). “The goal for today was to try to qualify the best we could, and we were able to do that,” Blaney said.

Clarke and Inter Europol took their third pole position of the year, ahead of Goikhberg and Hyett.
Veteran Grant Enfinger took the lead on a late-race restart and held off a hard-charging Landen Lewis to make his first visit to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory lane in more than a season – earning his first career road course win Saturday afternoon in the LiUNA 150 at Connecticut’s historic Lime Rock Park.

IMSA has announced the 2027 VP Racing SportsCar Challenge calendar, which sees the sprint-based series shift to an all-endurance format with races between 90 minutes and three hours length. Following the launch of the Airbnb Endurance Challenge in 2026 as a “championship within a championship” primarily for LMP3 cars, all seven VPRC events in 2027 will adopt the new dual-driver endurance format with most races lasting two hours.
Two practice sessions are in the books at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and the No. 52 Bryan Herta Autosport with PR1/Mathiasen ORECA 07-Gibson has led both after pacing Practice 2 this morning. Just as he did yesterday afternoon, regular Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing driver Ricky Taylor set the fastest time in LMP2, improving on yesterday’s benchmark with a lap of 1m07.812s less than halfway into today’s 90-minute practice.
