The rain returned today, albeit lightly. While it’s technically rainy season now, we’ve had summer sun for some weeks straight. El Veranillo, it’s called—the little summer. When it rains here, everyone is pressed apart or together—held in place by the downfall, the condition of the roads, and whether or not the power is out. Those with “rainy season lovers” cuddle; the single ones either sign off or take their chances with a DM; the families cook and play games.

On Age: Relative, Constructed, and Optionally Irrelevant
I’ve always been conscious of impermanence, and aging is the most unavoidable expression of that fact. For as long as I can remember, I have felt like life is short. In my first memory of this feeling, I’m standing in the center of a soccer field at night, a steady drizzle soaking through my uniform. Beyond the lights, in every direction, I can see forests and dark walls of hills. I know it’s beautiful, this scene, and that I am young, and that I ought to remember it.
