Award-winning outdoors influencer becomes Ramblers Scotland president
Chris is best known for his hugely-popular ‘Did you know that in Scotland…?’ videos, which have helped him build more than 2 million followers across his social media accounts. At Ramblers Scotland’s AGM in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon, Chris was formally named as successor to outgoing President Zahrah ‘The Hillwalking Hijabi’ Mahmood. Zahrah recently received an MBE from the Princess Royal for her work to boost representation and break down barriers to walking.
Our vision for accessible paths across Wales
Ahead of the 2026 Senedd elections, we're calling on politicians to make access to the outdoors a priority. People in Wales are too often finding their way impassable, with a staggering 50% of Wales’s rights of way currently blocked or unsigned. That isn’t just denying people access to green spaces, but also to the health and wellbeing benefits of getting outside in nature.

But as I climbed the hillside, they were hidden from view by a blanket of grey. Unusually, this meant I heard them before I saw them: a ‘whump, whump’ of spinning blades, before a tall, tapering pillar loomed out of the fog. This was stage 12 of the Cambrian Way, Wales’s finest long-distance trail.
New research shows funding crisis for paths and outdoor access in Wales
Cymraeg. New research by Ramblers Cymru has found that local authorities in Wales are spending less on paths than they did in 2014, negatively impacting on people’s ability to reap the benefits of being outdoors and walking in nature. Despite increasing use of the path network and a rise in reported issues, budgets for 2025/26 are 32% lower in real terms than they were in 2014/15.

The Ramblers launch national partnership with housing association Places for People
The new partnership will introduce over 60 new Wellbeing Walks across the country. The Ramblers is pleased to be working in partnership with the UK’s leading social enterprise Places for People (PfP) to extend the reach of Ramblers Wellbeing Walks to over 60 new communities across Britain. Utilising their unique position, PfP will leverage the knowledge and reach of their leisure business, Places Leisure, to support the partnership.
