William F. P. Coxe III died June 26, 2022 at his home in Ellenboro NC. Born November 4, 1953, he was the son of Ann Fuller Field and William F. P Coxe Jr. His education was at Asheville Country Day School, Christ School and Warren Wilson College. His career was in IT; he retired from the Eaton Corp. He was a faithful and hard-working member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, Rutherfordton NC. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, F. Field Coxe and Lyman B.
The Rutherfordton Police Department is requesting assistance on locating Hoyt Roger Anders. Mr. Anders is a white male, 77 years old, 5’6″ height, 150 Lbs, gray hair, brown eyes. Mr. Anders is believe to be driving a 2001 Ford Ranger, White in Color, NC License Number EFY7446. Mr. Anders used his debit card at the Ingles in Lake Lure at around 3:51am on 06/28/2022. Mr. Anders is believed to be suffering from dementia or other cognitive impairment.
On 6/26/22, at approximately 7:30 PM, Deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Webb road in Ellenboro. Initial information said the suspect was being detained by witnesses on scene. Dispatch updated deputies just before their arrival that the suspect had escaped and ran into a wooded area. Responding Deputies were flagged down near a residence on Webb Rd.in Ellenboro and advised the shooting victim was in a vehicle near by the scene.

On June 21, 2022, a McDowell County Resident reported his sheet metal brake stolen from a residence in the West Marion area. Attached are photographs of the suspect and suspect vehicle, as well as a photograph of the metal brake. Anyone with information concerning the theft, or whereabouts of the metal brake in question is asked to call Detective Burlin Ballew at 652-2237 or McDowell County Crime Stoppers at 65-CRIME (652-7463). Cliffside, NC — On June 22, 2022, a breach in the old Cliffside Cone Mills Dam was caused by a malfunctioning water release gate. This resulted in a public safety hazard, significant sediment pollution, and environmental harm. Statement from David Caldwell, MountainTrue’s Broad Riverkeeper: The Cliffside Cone Mills Dam, which was purchased by Navitas Utility Corporation in May, is approximately 90 years old and in disrepair.
