🎧 Listen The first Reading Recap reader survey closed Tuesday night with 570 responses to a single question: "Will you support the upcoming $6.5 million dollar override vote on November 3rd?" A majority of respondents — 335, or 59% — said No, while 132 (23%) said Yes and 103 (18%) remain Undecided. The survey ran from August 15th through September 1st and was open to all readers.

🎧 Listen Reading voters made their picks Tuesday in the September 1 State Primary, with 6,047 of the town's 20,944 registered voters — 28.9% — casting ballots at the Walter E. Hawkes Field House, where all eight precincts voted. Turnout ran from 26.4% in Precinct 8 to 30.9% in Precinct 3, with 4,807 Democratic ballots and 1,240 Republican ballots cast. The results below are unofficial, as reported by Town Clerk Laura A. Gemme's office.

🎧 Listen Today, Tuesday, September 1, is Election Day for the Massachusetts state primary. All eight Reading precincts vote in one place: the Walter E. Hawkes Field House at Reading Memorial High School 62 Oakland Road, with polls open from 7 AM to 8 PM. Voters will choose their party's nominees in this fall's statewide and legislative races — including several contested primaries on Reading's ballot — and any voter registered as unenrolled (independent) may take either party's ballot at check-in.
