Larrikin House, 2026. ISBN: 9781923345348. (Age: 3+) Recommended. Archie is full of beans; he jumps and runs, zip lines across the sky, fights dragons and has a head full of ideas that make his days full of adventure. He taps, shakes, moves, turns, drums and twitches. His classmates call for him to calm down, worried that they are often at the end of his activities, one getting struck in the head with a ball kicked by Archie, while others call for him to be quiet, and talk less.

She gets the horses into the stable, follows the llamas into the shed, and finally has time to tend her garden. She pats the dog and leaves a saucer of milk out for the cat, brushes her teeth and climbs into her pyjamas for bed. But they are not there. She cannot sleep without her sheep pyjamas.

But Eleanor has carefully curated her past and her daughters are not always in awe of her.

The butterfly man by Heather Rose

We all love by Julie Flett
Greystone Kids, 2026. ISBN: 9781778403279. (Age: 3+) Recommended. Showing, reflecting, giving and receiving love is at the forefront of this story as Flett reveals the supportive relationships that exist between animals and between humans. I’m not afraid of spiders by Caitlin Henderson.Illus. by Annie Henderson
CSIRO Publishing, 2026. ISBN: 9781486318551. (Age: 4-9) Highly recommended. Spiders are not the most popular of creatures and often children are fearful of coming into contact with them. This fear comes about through children’s perceptions of how busily spiders move, how they can appear when you least expect them, how they are portrayed in books and film, and perhaps the most influential reason is how older children and adults model their reaction to them.
