Round 1 concluded at approximately 10:00 p.m. local time in Southport. The first tee time was 6:35 a.m. A mere 15+ hours of golf were played on Thursday! The morning wave took advantage of perfect Open Championship conditions, registering almost a full stroke advantage over the afternoon players. Our leader, Jackson Suber, went out and made six birdies and an eagle, posting a 65 on his card. Looming one shot back are Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Young.

The 154th Open Championship will be visiting Southport, England, and Royal Birkdale for the 11th time in the past 72 years. Four men in the 156-man field have competed in the past three championships held on this heralded links (1998, 2008, 2017): Stewart Cink, David Duval, Padraig Harrington and Justin Rose. Some may have guessed Darren Clarke. Clarke missed the 2008 Open Championship, but he is the only player in the field who competed at Royal Birkdale in 1991!
