Blizzard Entertainment held its opening ceremony for BlizzCon 2026 with a ton of announcements which includes Diablo IV news, the reveal of Diablo V, and the reveal of a new StarCraft. While not showing much, StarCraft is returning in 2030 as an original open-world shooter.

BlizzCon 2026 has started with its opening ceremony that featured a variety of announcements. Diablo V has been confirmed to be in development and we still received Diablo IV news. Blizzard Entertainment announced the Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15. Diablo IV on Switch 2 will offer cross-play, cross-progression support and an “evolving endgame wherever players choose to play.

BlizzCon 2026 has begun and its opening ceremony has a ton of news to offer. Blizzard Entertainment revealed Diablo V, the next era of Diablo is in development and is launching in Spring 2029. “Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo has won. Players must confront the question at the heart of this new chapter: what must you become when the world has already fallen?” A Diablo 5 website is also live where Blizzard will be providing development updates as they come.

Developer BULKHEAD and publisher Team17 announced that its first-person shooter, WARDOGS has officially surpassed one million copies sold. WARDOGS released on PC via Steam Early Access on September 10 and reached the milestone in just two days of the release. WARDOGS did have 1 million wishlists prior to its early access release as well. The game reached 100K Steam wishlists just three days after its reveal, passed 500K in May and hit 1 million in August.

Live-service remains to be a focal point for PlayStation. Despite fallout attempts like Concord, the firm is adamant on still pursuing the business model through other IPs. Another project is Fairgame$: announced in 2023, the game has been cooking in incubation for the past few years. The project was originally helmed by Jade Raymond at Haven Entertainment Studios, but that was before her surprising departure from the game studio.

The updates that roll out for No Man’s Sky have begun to deliver more than ever before. But, that also comes with longer wait times. Last year, the ‘Breach’ dropped featuring ship salvaging, space wrecks, and ghost ships. Entering in 2026, No Man’s Sky fans later found the ‘Remnant’ update to feature waste management & vehicle customization with the update that came in February. By April, fans were still finding new and exciting things coming to No Man’s Sky.

Super Rare Originals and developer Pixel Reign have announced that boomer-shooter roguelite Moros Protocol is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, 2026. Moros Protocol originally released on PC via Steam last year and as the developer said the launch was “fantastic”. Moros Protocol has you battle relentless enemies in a test of skill and power. The ship is a war zone. The enemy is endless. The odds are against you. You may be outnumbered, but you are not outmatched.

Nintendo announced this week that Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 will be getting a free update on September 29. Battle Mode is a big part of this update. It’s going to support up to four player split-screen on a single Nintendo Switch 2 console, including facing off against each other in local play and forming a team to join online battles.

Nintendo of America announced a Customer Appreciation Sale that is going live on September 12 at 9 PM PT until September 26 at 8:59 PM PT. This is going to be one of Nintendo’s biggest promotions ever. It will feature 30% off dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles, plus savings on select physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo, and apparel. The sale will span across the eShop, Nintendo Store, and participating retail locations.

Ubisoft announced Just Dance: Decades of Hits, a brand new experience across a variety of music is launching on October 13, 2026 for XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. It will release for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 10, 2026. The game will retail for $39.99 USD at retailers and digital storefronts. Just Dance: Decades of Hits brings every generation together with 35 songs across six different decades.
