Bandai Namco announced that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC will launch on July 20, 2026 for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series, and PC via Steam. The developer released an in-depth look at the upcoming Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC highlighting its new solo mode, Limit Breaker Journey, along with 33 new playable characters spanning Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT.

It is officially sports game season for the industry. Next month, EA Sports’ Madden NFL 27 is set to release. The game features Chicago Bears’ Caleb Williams for this year’s cover athlete. Additionally, NHL 27 is also on the way. The newest annual installment will have San Jose Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini for its cover athlete when it ships in September 11th. Another Electronic Arts game on the way is EA Sports FC 27.

Physical ownership for PlayStation players is a major pillar to be on the platform. So for Sony Interactive Entertainment to announce that it is ceasing production for physical games in 2028 is a punch to the gut for millions. Some of the shared thinking within Sony disclosed by Jason Schreier reveals that the costs to cut off the support altogether outweighs the demand that majority use when making digital purchases. And this is an upward trend according to analytics for PlayStation users.

Over a week ago, Microsoft hinted that a new update would roll out for XBOX Insiders. The release was said to be delayed with plans to blow fans away in an exciting way. On July 15th, the update in question featured a suite of new additions: XBOX 360 achievement art overhaul, poster-style art for your game library, and Ganertags can now be 15 characters long were all part of an update then. Move forward to this week, the XBOX firm continues to surprise its users in new ways.

Recently, XBOX has show to act upon aspects that many see to benefit the platform. In one announcement, it was revealed that backwards compatibility is to hit PC with Achievement support due in the “coming months.” It was also reported that the firm is already testing Project Positron which stands as an entitlement program to grant ownership of physical games to your digital library. For XBOX Cloud Gaming, there has been ongoing discussions of making the platform available outside of subscription.

There have been some course correcting at XBOX in response to the recent PlayStation update for its physical games. It was reported that Microsoft is already internally testing Project Positron – a disc-to-digital entitlement program which grants users ownership to their account. Ownership has remained a major investment for XBOX even across multiple platforms as former leadership has touted in the past. However, another concern part of this conversation is account compromise.

Currently, there is a precedent more concerning than the next-generation of PlayStation: physical releases. Even though it is hard to avoid at this point, it is clearly apparent that Sony has decided to pull the plug on PlayStation releasing games in a physical capacity by 2028. The announcement was paired with the shuttering of PlayStation 3 & PlayStation Vita servers also being shuttered fully in 2027.

The digital frontier has shown to absorb plenty of the market share for PlayStation as Sony confirmed it plans to shutter further production for physical media by January 2028. The PlayStation firm further cements the idea by also implementing the maneuver through changes in production for its largest manufacturing plant in Austria to commence production on new components by next year. As part of Sony’s commitment to the new shift, analysts have commented on the mindset shared at PlayStation.
