Registration open for 2026 Preble County Chamber Golf Classic PREBLE COUNTY — Registration is now open for the 2026 Preble County Chamber Golf Classic, scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Beechwood Golf Course in Arcanum. Hosted by the Preble County Chamber of Commerce, the annual outing brings together business leaders, community members and organizations from throughout the region for a day of networking, friendly competition and community support.

Preble Shawnee Local School District is creating an inclusive playground at the Preble Shawnee Preschool and Elementary School in Camden, providing accessible play opportunities for children of all abilities. This work is supported in part by a $2,500 grant from the McCullough-Hyde Foundation through its Community Granting Program. The grant was awarded in February as part of the Winter 2026 funding cycle, which provided $71,800 in funding to 12 community organizations.

Duncan Oil Co., a family-owned petroleum distributor based in Beavercreek, has acquired Beoddy Oil Co. of Eaton in what company officials describe as the largest acquisition in Duncan Oil’s history. The transaction brings together two long-established, family-owned Ohio fuel suppliers and expands Duncan Oil’s presence in western Ohio by adding Beoddy Oil’s fuel distribution network, convenience stores and related assets.

Brookville police arrest wanted fugitive after search at Green Tokai BROOKVILLE — A wanted fugitive was taken into custody without incident June 22 following a coordinated law enforcement response at Green Tokai on Robert Wright Drive. According to the Brookville Police Department, officers received information that Isaiah Chancellor, who had recently been featured in a news report, was inside the manufacturing facility.

Cyclists from five states converged on Preble County on Saturday, June 20, for the 22nd annual Buckeye Bridge Ride, continuing a tradition that organizers say celebrates both the county’s scenic countryside and the volunteers who make the event possible.

EATON — The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Preble County will return Saturday, July 18, bringing community members together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease and raise funds to support cancer research and patient services. The event will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Preble County Council on Aging, 800 E. St. Clair St., Eaton. Activities will include an opening ceremony, survivor recognition, a community walk and a luminaria ceremony.
