More than 1,100 people from around the world joined the twelfth edition of RELX SDG Inspiration Day: Countdown for the Environment: Climate Action to Advance the SDGs, held virtually on 4 June 2026. Bringing together participants from across business, academia, civil society, government and international organisations, the annual event provided a platform to explore solutions, share insights and accelerate progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Climate change poses a growing global health threat, disproportionately affecting low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with fragile health systems and limited adaptive capacity. The health workforce plays a critical role in managing climate-sensitive health risks but often lacks adequate training. Building climate-resilient health systems therefore requires equipping health workers with the relevant knowledge, skills, and adaptive capacities.

Climate-smart forestry (CSF) has emerged as a vital strategy for mitigating the impacts of climate change while enhancing the resilience of forest ecosystems. The CSF integrates ecological, economic, and social objectives into forest management practices against increasing greenhouse gas emissions, extreme weather events, and the escalating vulnerability of forests to climate change.

Data centres support artificial intelligence (AI) development but place rapidly increasing demands on electricity and freshwater resources, with cooling representing a significant portion of their total energy consumption. Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) discharge large volumes of treated effluent with substantial cooling potential; however, their integration with data centre infrastructure has not been evaluated.

This paper aims to evaluate the risk of mental distress among individuals residing in coastal regions susceptible to climate-related natural hazards.
