It is an exciting time for India’s renewable energy sector. With roughly 300 GW of installed clean and non-fossil-based energy capacity, and a well-mapped path for another 200 GW before the decade ends, the sector is geared up for tremendous growth. Solar power has already crossed 160 GW of installations, with around 18 GW of capacity additions in just five months since the beginning of 2026-27.
CEL invites EoI for green data centres, solar cell and module manufacturing
Central Electronics Limited (CEL) has invited a global Expression of Interest (EoI) for the empanelment of consultants for projects involving 1.25 GW solar cell and module manufacturing, 100 MW green data centres, assembly, testing, marking and packaging semiconductor plants, rare earth permanent magnet plants, and satellite manufacturing and testing.
Oswal Pumps secures 46.7 MW rooftop solar projects in Telangana
Oswal Pumps Limited has received a letter of intent from Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TREDCL) for the installation of 46,705 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity across 9,937 government schools in 33 districts of Telangana. The project involves the deployment of 2 kW, 5 kW and 10 kW solar power systems using Mono PERC or TOPCon solar modules. The order is valued at approximately Rs 2.97 billion.
NTPC terminates Mouda 400 MWh BESS contract
NTPC Limited has terminated the contract awarded to GR Infraprojects Limited (GRIL) for a 400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Mouda Super Thermal Power Station in Maharashtra. The contract, awarded in March 2026 at a total value of Rs 4.13 billion, was scheduled for completion within 15 months.
Dilip Buildcon divests stake in 1,363 MW solar portfolio to Alpha Alternatives
Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) has executed definitive agreements with Alpha Alternatives for the divestment of its stake in 10 special purpose vehicles (SPVs) undertaking its under-construction solar portfolio. The portfolio, held through DBL Renewable Private Limited (DBRL), has an estimated total project cost of around Rs 62.63 billion and an enterprise value of approximately Rs 68.29 billion, subject to agreed closing adjustments and conditions.
GridStor reaches financial close for 400 MWh BESS in Arizona
GridStor has closed a $220 million financing agreement for the development of the White Tank battery energy storage system (BESS) in Maricopa County, Arizona. The project has an installed capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh. The project financing comprises tax equity bridge, construction and term debt with participation from ING Capital, KeyBank and Zions Capital Markets.
Stonepeak invests in AMPYR Distributed Energy
Stonepeak has announced an equity investment in AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE). ADE, launched with AGP in 2024, develops, owns and operates onsite renewable energy infrastructure for commercial and industrial customers across the UK and Europe. AGP will retain an interest in ADE following the transaction. Furthermore, ADE has a pipeline of over 1 GW and has contracted 250 MW renewable energy projects across 200 sites till date. The transaction is expected to close in the upcoming days.
Germany awards 2.5 GW onshore wind projects
Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of its August 2026 onshore wind auction. A total of 461 bids totalling 5,250 MW were submitted while the auction offered 2,520 MW, making the auction significantly oversubscribed. A total of 237 bids, totalling 2,523 MW were awarded, while 17 bids were excluded.
NTPC REL floats 600 MW wind turbine supply tender in Andhra Pradesh
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has invited bids for the supply and installation of wind turbine generators (WTGs) for an interstate transmission system-connected wind project with a nominal capacity of 600 MW. The project is located in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and will comprise 200 WTGs. The deadline for bid submission is October 19, 2026.
AMPIN Energy Transition secures $100 million investment from Norfund
The Climate Investment Fund, managed by Norfund, will invest up to $100 million in AMPIN Energy Transition. The investment will support the development of around 2 GW of new solar and wind power capacity backed by energy storage in India by 2028. With the investment, AMPIN aims to reach 10 GWp of installed capacity by 2030. Norfund expects its $100 million investment to mobilise up to $700 million in private capital through a mix of equity and loans.
