MANSFIELD — A vote on a five-year blueprint for Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport is scheduled Tuesday for city lawmakers. The 26-page document, introduced by the city administration in July, examines the best ways to continue to develop and leverage Lahm Airport economically in the next five years. It’s a strategic development plan for the 2,400-acre airport that features long runways, an FAA-controlled tower, a fixed-base operator and immediate access to a number of adjoining industrial parks.
Flooding, unsafe conditions force cancellation of 2026 Lexington Blueberry Festival
LEXINGTON — Recent flooding and unsafe conditions at Lexington Community Park have forced the cancellation of the 2026 Lexington Blueberry Festival, scheduled for Thursday through Sunday. According to a social media post, the decision was made jointly by the village of Lexington and the Festival Committee after evaluating the park’s grounds, citing safety as the top priority for guests, volunteers, vendors, performers and participants.
Section of Longview Avenue closed in Mansfield
MANSFIELD — The City of Mansfield has announced that due to water main repairs it is necessary to close sections of the following road while work is being completed. West Longview Avenue from Bowman Street to Grant Street. The road has been closed and construction signs will be posted at the work site. Traffic is advised to plan an alternate route to avoid possible delays. No traffic will be permitted to pass through. The road is set to reopen Aug. 21.

Section of State Route 314 to close Aug. 24
MANSFIELD — A section of State Route 314 will close next week, according to a press release Monday morning from the Ohio Department of Transportation. State Route 314, just north of Millsboro Road, will close on Monday, August 24 for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be State Route 314 south to State Route 309 west to State Route 61/State Route 309 in Galion to State Route 97 east to State Route 314 and reverse. The estimated completion of this project is Friday, Sept. 4, 2026.
Ohio State Highway Patrol plans OVI checkpoint this week in Richland County
MANSFIELD — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Monday that troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint to deter and intercept impaired drivers this week. The location where the event will take place will be announced on the morning of the checkpoint. If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.

MARION — Bite Club almost turned into Fight Club when my friend asked for a second bite of my pasta. After dinner at Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen, I messaged owner Alex Sheridan to tell him how much I enjoyed the experience. When he asked how everything was, my response was simple: “Everything was wonderful, but I would legit fight someone for that short rib tortellini.” Was I being dramatic? Maybe. But this was easily one of the most memorable dishes I’ve reviewed this year.

American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit to make 2 stops in Richland County
MANSFIELD — The Jared Mansfield Chapter DAR has announced the opening of the American Revolution Experience at the Samuel D. Isaly Library of the Ohio Genealogical Society, 611 State Route 97 West, Bellville, on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The innovative pop-up exhibition includes display panels and interactive digital kiosks that use storytelling, illustration, technology and unique artifacts and primary accounts to connect modern audiences with the people and places that shaped the birth of our nation.
