THE GUARDIAN The Bauchi State Government has proposed N400 million in its 2025 budget to purchase six computers for the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The state government also budgeted N1 billion for the “purchase of land for the construction of offices and buildings.” It will also spend N170 million to buy a generator to power the SSG’s office.

Officials in Tunisia say around 23 people have gone missing after setting off in a boat towards Europe. The national guard said it had informed the navy and search and rescue operations were under way. According to AFP, they set sail between 3 and 4 May andfamilies of the missing individuals notified the authorities 10 days later. The National Guard said five people had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the crossing, the news agency reported.

PUNCH The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Friday, handed over $22,000 recovered from a convicted internet fraudster, Hakeem Olanrewaju, to the Federal Bureau of Investigations, in Lagos. Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos had, on August 15, 2023, ordered that the money recovered from Olanrewaju, who was sentenced to two years imprisonment for identity theft and impersonation, be restituted to his victim in the United States of America.

DAILY NIGERIAN Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, said his administration has reduced banditry to about 70 per cent in the last one year.
