Jen Bunker and Ashley Kolberg, SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital leaders, present a $5,000 gift to Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area participants. The donation will help youth and families throughout rural communities by supporting programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, leadership development, food security and unmet family needs.

The first we Live Foundation presents a $3,000 check to Murray Park Elementary School for the creation of a new OASIS room. The city of Ripon received an additional $399,137.85 through Wisconsin’s Flexible Facilities Program (FFP) to support the renovation of the Ripon Public Library. The additional award increases the city’s FFP funding for the project to $2,384,137.85.

The Ripon Noon Kiwanis Club is holding its fall cheese box sale, just in time for Thanksgiving! The cheese box sale will run through the month of October with boxes being ready mid-November. Ripon Noon Kiwanis is offering two sizes of cheese boxes, packed with products courtesy of Star Dairy. The Family Size box contains a 12-ounce summer sausage, a container of port wine cheese spread, a package of Muenster, medium cheddar and string cheese for $35.

Ripon High School celebrated Homecoming Week Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 with a festival theme that brought students together for dress-up days, hallway decorating, games, assemblies, athletic events and the annual Homecoming dance. The week’s theme, “Festivals,” featured four celebrations as inspiration.

Formed in 1987 in Boulder, Colo., The Samples built a national following through decades of touring and a sound blending signature pop-rock melodies, reggae rhythms, and folk-infused songwriting.

Ripon College students enjoy a previous Homecoming tailgate. Ripon will celebrate Homecoming this weekend. Ripon College welcomes alumni, parents, families, friends and neighbors from across the Ripon community to campus for its annual Family Weekend and Homecoming, Thursday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 11. The weekend brings together a mix of campus traditions, faculty-led experiences, game-day festivities and alumni athletic contests.

Students once passed hand-written notes on scraps of paper in school while today casual communication happens utilizing text messaging. Ripon didn’t see the wide use of television until the 1960s.

Cora Siegle gets ready to field her position while playing third base for her softball team. At 9 years old, Cora Siegle already is a multi-sport athlete with a passion for competition. The fourth-grade Green Lake School District student plays softball for Fondy Fusion in Fond du Lac and participates in Princeton Youth Football. She also enjoys golf, dirt biking and snowboarding at Nordic Mountain.

Howard Street will be reconstructed thanks to federal funding from the Surface Transportation Program. The City of Ripon was awarded federal funding through the Surface Transportation Program (STP) for the future reconstruction of Howard and Liberty streets. The two awards represent approximately $4.6 million in project funding, with the STP program providing 80% of eligible project costs and the city responsible for the remaining 20 percent local share.
