Three Moroccan brothers have been arrested in Mallorca after allegedly attacking and attempting to rape a young woman who rejected them in a nightlife district near Playa de Palma. According to Diario de Mallorca, the suspects, aged 18, 23 and 26, approached the woman at around 5 a.m. on June 30 and attempted to flirt with her. When she told them to “fuck off,” police say the three men became violent, grabbed her by the neck, and dragged her from the street onto the sand.
Half of women report harassment or assault at beaches as Marseille expands safety app scheme
Marseille has extended its safety scheme across the city’s supervised beaches, allowing victims and witnesses of sexual harassment or assault to send immediate geolocated alerts to teams working on the sand. According to the City of Marseille, the free and anonymous “Safer Plages” app will operate at Corbière, Catalans, Prado Nord and Prado Sud, Borély, Bonneveine, Vieille Chapelle, Pointe Rouge and Frioul until Aug. 30.
Illegal Moroccan migrant shoots lawyer after failed lawsuit in Spain
An illegal Moroccan migrant allegedly shot his lawyer at point-blank range after losing a lawsuit in southern Spain, leaving the attorney hospitalized in serious condition. According to Antena 3, the shooting took place at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday on Granada Street in El Ejido, Almería, after a dispute between the suspect and the lawyer over compensation connected to an unsuccessful lawsuit. Police initially believed the weapon was a pellet gun and that the injuries were minor.
Father puts migrant in emergency room after alleged sexual assault on five-year-old boy in Toulouse park
A father has admitted to beating a 70-year-old man after allegedly witnessing him sexually assault his five-year-old son in a park in Toulouse. According to La Dépêche du Midi, emergency services were called to Parc de la Violette in the north of the city on Wednesday evening after the elderly man was found lying semi-conscious with severe swelling to his face. When police arrived, another man approached officers and admitted that he had assaulted him.

Afghan knifeman arrested after German student stabbed to death near Trier University
A 22-year-old Afghan national has been arrested in Germany on suspicion of a stabbing attack that left a German student of the same age dead near the University of Trier. Witnesses contacted emergency services at around 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday after finding the injured student on Robert-Schuman-Allee, a few hundred meters from the university campus. According to Bild, witnesses told police that the victim had been attacked by a man armed with a knife who then fled the scene.
‘Allahu Akbar!’ Turkish gunman shot by police after opening fire outside Dresden supermarket
German police shot and wounded an armed Turkish national and known criminal after he opened fire on officers outside a Netto supermarket in Dresden on Wednesday morning. Emergency services were called to the store in the Friedrichstadt district of the city at around 8:20 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man carrying a weapon and threatening people in the area. According to Dresden police speaking to Bild, officers encountered 41-year-old Mehmet Ü. armed with a musket-style rifle.
Orbán’s former foreign minister quits politics for senior role at Chinese carmaker BYD
Former Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has resigned from parliament after accepting a senior international position with Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD. Pakistani migrant family jailed for life over honor killing of teenage daughter in Italy
Italy’s Court of Cassation has upheld the convictions of five members of a Pakistani migrant family over the honor killing of 18-year-old Saman Abbas in northern Italy. Her parents, Shabbar Abbas and Nazia Shaheen, and her cousins, Ijaz Ikram and Noman Ul Haq, will serve life sentences. Her uncle, Danish Hasnain, was sentenced to 22 years in prison. The Supreme Court rejected the defendants’ appeals, making the sentences final.
