Lifeguards News Release RNLI lifeguards at Cranfield Point carried out two rapid rescues on Sunday (12 July) after strong south‑westerly offshore winds swept paddleboarders far from shore. Lifeguard Joe Brennan McCann At 12.30pm, Lifeguard Matthew Whitaker was alerted to two paddleboarders before they had entered the water at Cranfield Point. Unable to stop them from entering the water the pair were pushed nearly 500 metres offshore by strengthening winds.

Lifeguards News Release Senior Lifeguards Annie Jagoe and Jack Devenney came to the rescue of a swimmer caught in a rip current yesterday evening (7 July). Senior Lifeguard Annie Jagoe At 5pm the lifeguards on Portrush West Strand were alerted by a member of the public to a swimmer, struggling against strong surging waves outside of the flags. Lifeguard Annie Jagoe was the first to enter the water using a rescue board. On reaching the casualty Annie manoeuvred the woman onto her rescue board.

Lifeboats News Release After more than a decade of life-saving service in Dun Laoghaire, the RNLI is welcoming its new coxswain in long serving volunteer crew member Dave Farrell. Dave’s path to coxswain saw him on both the inshore and all-weather lifeboat before moving to just the all-weather in 2020.

Ever since Margate Pier was destroyed in a storm in 1978 the crew have been housed in a temporary building on the prom, and it’s now showing its age. We now have an opportunity to give our volunteers the permanent home they deserve, which sets lifesaving up in Margate for years to come.
