What is Roamancing Travel, you ask? Stories of the love & beauty in this world, as revealed through travel. Travelling the globe uncovering the love & beauty all around us!
We're not your average jet-set crew; we're just as happy to hunker around a campfire as we are to be finely wined & dined, as we roamance travel.
Established in 2011, Roamancing is a digital travel magazine that creates travel, culture & nature web series, documentaries & podcasts, in addition to travel & culture articles & guides.
We are travel, history & science journalists who've worked in media for decades & won awards internationally for our writing, filmmaking, podcasting & educational content. Due to disabilities & adversity, we look at travel through an accessibility and wellness lens. In support of this, our Editor-in-Chief Erica Hargreave is also a biologist, chronic illness warrior & journalism instructor.
Our goal? To share stories that catalyse social good & positive change. Source
The fourth port of call on Anne and Vera’s Northern Europe City Escapes Cruise with Royal Caribbean Cruises was Rotterdam. With only 1-day in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Anne and Vera marvel at the modern and futuristic engineering and architecture of this Dutch city. In a fitting finale to a wonderful cruise, the modern-day marvels in our final port took us from Hamburg’s past to Rotterdam’s present and future. We started off our day by crossing one such modern marvel – the Erasmusbrug.
The third port of call on Anne and Vera’s Northern Europe City Escapes Cruise with Royal Caribbean Cruises was Hamburg. Marvelling at Japan’s traditions of courtesy and respect, Liz Campbell explores the sacred believes that shape this country through the shrines and temples in Japan. Hands have been washed, shoes removed, and a coin tossed in the offering slot. Approaching the sacred place with reverence, each supplicant bows twice, claps twice, quietly offers a brief prayer, and finally bows deeply once more. Then each moves respectfully away to make room for the next.
Exploring island life off the coast of Yucatan, Mexico, Diana Ballon discovers the peaceful relaxation of disconnecting, while immersing herself in nature and the deliciously fresh food of Isla Holbox. There are eight of us settled in a small blue-and-yellow outboard boat skimming across turquoise water. The horizon dissolves into the sea, and a green strip of land floats in the distance, as our Captain José Elias Celina, explains where we’re headed.
Roamancing writers Erica Hargreave and Jacqueline Louie named as finalists in the TMAC 2024 Awards for Indigenous, DEI and Tourism for Positive Change Storytelling. It is always fantastic to celebrate being named as the finalists in an award’s program, but so much more so when they are for stories that are important to us as they do good, work towards DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), help to share the history of historically marginalised communities and support Indigenous futures.

Being budget conscious travellers and in the process of setting up our campervan dream, we keep our eyes peeled for good deals so we can make our travel and media creation dollars extend that much further, while still treating our furry family members (aka our pets) like the deities that they are. Given that, here’s our Summer 2025 Wish List Picks with a social conscious twist.
