RAWLINS -- The Rock Springs Tigers swam to a third-place finish with 111 total team points at their season-opening meet in Rawlins this weekend.

GREEN RIVER -- The Wolves and the Tigers kicked off the Wyoming high school cross country season with a duel race in Green River, and Rock Springs took the win on both the girls and boys sides. Tiger senior Aria Wheeler won the girls race with a time of 21 minutes, 16.04 seconds. Rock Springs had four of the top five finishers and averaged 22:48 to top Green River's 24:49. On the boys side, winner Jesse Kimble, who ran an 18:09.96, belonged to the Wolves.

CHEYENNE — State lawmakers continued work this week to address funding for Wyoming’s K-12 public education system, attempting to close shortfalls identified by courts in critical areas, including school safety, nutrition and technology. The Legislature’s Select Committee on School Finance Recalibration heard testimony and public comment on how to tackle these issues.

ROCK SPRINGS -- Local Scout William Klein is teaming up with Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1 to make home safety a little easier and safer for area families. SWEETWATER COUNTY -- The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) and the Wyoming Department of Health have issued new harmful cyanobacteria bloom (HCB) recreational use bloom advisories for Fontenelle Reservoir and Viva Naughton Reservoir. The advisory for Fontenelle Reservoir applies to the West Central Ramp area, while the advisory for Viva Naughton Reservoir applies to the Northwest Campground location. Both advisories were issued on Aug. 27.

ROCK SPRINGS -- The Rock Springs Police Department issued a statement to clarify rumors circulating on social media regarding the installation of license plate readers within the city.

ROCK SPRINGS -- Construction on the new Century West Park splash pad is making steady progress. Residents waiting for the new amenity to open will need to hold off until next spring, though. In a conversation with the Rocket Miner, Parks and Recreation Director JJ Syvrud said major construction milestones have already been reached.
