GREEN RIVER — A Rock Springs resident has requested the Sweetwater County Commission consider hand counting ballots for the midterm elections. Laura McKee approached the commissioners during their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 7. She claimed the current equipment and programs used to tally and print ballots are outdated and are no longer supported or certified.

ROCK SPRINGS -- Election security, budget management, and the potential introduction of time-saving office technology took center stage as incumbent Sweetwater County Clerk Cindy Lane Swensen and challenger Dale Davis

ROCK SPRINGS -- ICE, drug issues, recruitment, and other issues were highlighted when candidates for the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office shared their visions for the agency during the 2026 Republican Debates. Local voters listened to various perspectives during the six-way Republican primary race for Sweetwater County Sheriff on Tuesday, July 7. The multi-candidate forum was hosted by the Sweetwater GOP.

ROCK SPRINGS -- The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), with DeBernardi Construction will begin work on the last two phases of the concrete slab repair project on Wyoming State Highway 376, the South Belt Loop, in Rock Springs from Dewar Drive to Blair Avenue, beginning Wednesday, July 15th. The work will be split into two sections to allow continuous access to West Center Street.

ROCK SPRINGS -- Monday night resulted in a welcome win for the Rock Springs Stallions, who took their first victory of July when they topped the Green River Knights 17U team 15-5. It improved the Stallions' overall record to 10-37 on the year while the 17U Knights fell to 6-29-1. The teams traded scoreless innings in the first, with Stallions pitcher Karter Duran forcing three straight groundouts and Knights pitcher Draiven Houchin sitting a pair of batters down on strikes.

BOISE, Idaho -- The Green River Knights capped off their WCP Boise Freedom Days Tournament run with a 19-4 rout over the Fruitland Grizzlies. It was one of four games in the tournament for the Knights and the only one to result in victory. The other contests saw them fall 10-7 to the Columbia Wildcats, 12-0 to Rocky Mountain and 10-0 to the Idaho Show. Green River's overall record now reads 13-22 on the season.

GREEN RIVER -- Sweetwater County will enact stage 1 fire restrictions starting July 10, following the Sweetwater County Commission's approval of a resolution during regular session on Tuesday, July 7.

ROCK SPRINGS -- The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency (URA) is recognizing Broadway Bargains, located at 429 Broadway Street, as the recipient of the July Golden Broom Award.
