Happy Friday, everyone. We got a bit of basketball news yesterday, as both the men and women have set up exhibition games. Alabama men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in Boutwell Auditorium again this October to compete in preseason exhibitions. The Ballin’ in Boutwell tournament announced both Crimson Tide squads will play Thursday, Oct. 15. First-year coach Pauline Love’s women’s team will tip off at noon before Nate Oats and company take the floor in Birmingham at 7 p.m. CT.

Happy Thursday, everyone. As you undoubtedly saw in the feed, 2027 WR Cedrick Simmons did indeed flip from Auburn to Alabama, as any smart player would. Simmons tallied 106 receptions for 2,192 yards and 20 touchdowns last season at Southside-Selma. He became the first player in AHSAA state history to record over 2,000 receiving yards in a single season. Simmons is the No. 50 player on AL.com‘s exclusive Best in Bama list that ranks the top 50 football prospects statewide, regardless of their age.

Happy Gump Day, everyone. We’re getting closer, as SEC Media Days are merely a week away. We learned yesterday who would be representing Alabama. The SEC released the names of SEC media days attendees Tuesday, and the three Alabama players will be Zabien Brown, Bray Hubbard and Ryan Coleman-Williams. Each is heading into his third season as a starter for the Crimson Tide.

The big news yesterday is that Alabama continues to work towards filling out their 2028 recruiting class with some high end talent - this time pulling in an up and coming offensive tackle, Anthony Blalock. “Any time you commit to a place like Alabama, you have to fit the physical build,” Parker says. The first thing you see with Anthony are his long arms. He has heavy hands in his punch and he’s pretty athletic for his size.

Info on a few early games for the 2027 Crimson Tide season are emerging. The Crimson Tide will participate in the Sarasota Classic, Feb 11-14, 2027. Other teams invited are FSU, Ohio State, JMU, Texas State, and Baylor. The press release says there will be 15 games over four days of play - which leads to assume each team will play each of the other five teams.

Happy Monday, everyone. We have reached the most painful part of the offseason, with fall camp looming in about three weeks and absolutely nothing going on. But, as always, we bring you what we have. Greg McElroy believes that Kalen DeBoer isn’t getting a fair shake from many. “Lane Kiffin went 14 years without a Power Conference ranked win,” Greg said. McElroy brought out the receipt for the disparity.

After Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron was drafted #18 in the first round by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, three of his teammates joined him in pro ball on Sunday. Right handed pitcher Tyler Fay was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates, left handed pitcher Zane Adams went to the Baltimore Orioles, and catcher/outfielder Brady Neal was nabbed by Cincinnati.

A hot new coach has turned the Pirates fortunes around. But they have a huge rebuild ahead of them. It’s still hot outside, the kids are still out of school, and fall camp has yet to open. However now that we are in single-digit weeks until the college football season begins, it’s about that time of year that the national press starts sucking up to Deion Sanders. Oh yeah. Alabama junior shortstop Justin Lebron was the 18th pick in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. Lebron was born in the Bronx, NY but moved with his family to Miramar, Florida at an early age. Originally commited to Rice, Lebron got a late offer from Alabama and flipped to the Tide. Lebron is the 7th first round pick in school history, and the second highest after outfielder Joe Vitello went number seven to Kansas City in 1991.
