Tennessee is now the 5th least expensive market in the nation Gas prices across Tennessee moved two cents more expensive over last week, on average. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $3.66 which is four cents less expensive than one month ago and 89 cents more expensive than one year ago. In our listening area, Grundy County has the lowest prices currently at $3.55 per gallon, which is 11 cents below the state average. The next lowest is Coffee County at $3.59 and Franklin County at $3.63.

Michael David Graham, age 39 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed from this life unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Michael was born in Manchester, TN to his parents Darrien Graham and Lori Graham Chambers. He worked for Werner Enterprises in Murfreesboro. He had the biggest heart and loved his family very much. Michael loved all sports, especially college football and his Florida Gators.

Melissa Renee Mines, age 57, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026. She was born on March 7, 1969, in Manchester, to Orville and Carolyn Cole. Melissa was a strong and loving woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She absolutely adored her children and grandchildren, and the love she had for them was evident in everything she did. Her children looked up to her for the strength and resilience she carried throughout her life.

Secretary of State's Website Offers Summaries of Proposed Tennessee Constitutional Amendments
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett today announced that summaries of the three proposed constitutional amendments that will appear on the November 3, 2026, ballot is now available on the Secretary of State's website, GoVoteTN.gov. The summaries, prepared by Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti pursuant to Tennessee law, are intended to help voters better understand each proposed amendment before Election Day.
Huntland has new police chief
The Huntland, Tennessee Board of Mayor and Aldermen last week appointed Christopher Hobbs to be the city's new police chief. Hobbs' appointment comes after the resignation of former chief Charles Keller at the request of Mayor Dalton Steele. The vote to appoint Hobbs was unanimous. Unemployment drops in all but two Tennessee counties
NASHVILLE - All but two of Tennessee's 95 counties reported a drop in their unemployment rates in July, according to newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD). Unemployment rates decreased from June to July in 93 counties. Obion was the only county where the rate remained the same in the month-to-month comparison, while Weakley was the only county to see an increase in unemployment.
Phyllis Martin Birdsong
Phyllis (Phyl) Anne Martin Birdsong, age 72, laid to rest on Tuesday, August 26th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born December 14th, 1953, she was born in Sewanee, Tennessee to the late Halson W. Martin and Mildred J. Martin. Phyl was known for her strong will, kindness, love for all things owl, and an even bigger love for her family. Phyl attended grade school in Redbank, Tennessee.
