The twelfth annual ‘Lake Loop’ bike, hike, or paddle challenge to benefit the Lake Hopatcong Foundation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6,  at Hopatcong State Park. The event, hosted by the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, along with partners Cycle Craft, Live the Lake NJ, and Ramsey Outdoor, celebrates New Jersey’s largest lake as a recreational resource and raises funds to help keep it clean and healthy.

ROXBURY TWP. - Keep a good eye out, establish a working relationship with your local police department, be wary of scams and, above all else, communicate. That's the advice several area law enforcement chiefs and Morris County Sheriff James Gannon had for members of the Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce at a breakfast held Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, at the Roxbury Senior Center, 72 Eyland Avenue Succasunna.

Rep. Tom Kean, Jr., R-7, hosted his second annual Seniors of Distinction event at the Bridgewater Township Senior Center, to honor outstanding seniors in the community on Friday, Sept. 13. Kean honored 29 seniors, who represent all six counties in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. Each senior was nominated by their friends, families, and neighbors and recognized at the event.

ROXBURY TWP. - The fourth annual Roxbury Library Gala, called "The Enchanted Library," will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesay, Nov. 13 at the Meadow Wood in Randolph. The event will honor long-time volunteers Shirley Bauer and Stu Bauer. Scott Fullerton will also be honored.

More than 800 attorneys and judges are expected to participate in the 18th Annual Jewish Law Symposium on Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany. The symposium will feature a panel discussion entitled “The Ethics of War and Peace” and a virtual online viewing option be available. Highlighting the event will be Alyza Lewin, at Washington  D.C. attorney and president of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law.

In recognition of Constitution Day Tuesday, Sept. 17, a 15-question ecology-civics survey has been launched online by CivicStory, a New Jersey-based nonprofit news organization. The basic yes/no quiz touches on topics related to elections, desired qualities of our elected leaders, the U.S. Constitution, nonprofit news, and the impact of ecology and democracy.

ROXBURY TWP. – The 14th Annual Roxbury Marching Band Classic is planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. The event features 11 local and regional high school marching bands including performances by both of Roxbury High School’s marching bands: The Marching Gaels and The Roxbury Sound. The event will take place at Roxbury High School, 1 Bryant Drive, Succasunna.

ROXBURY TWP. - The Roxbury Police Department has publicly congratulated Capt. Chad Eckert on his graduation from the FBI National Academy. Eckert, according to the department,  was one of 254 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy, marking the completion of the 291st session on Sept. 12.

ROXBURY TWP. - Cornhole, anyone? The Roxbury Rotary Club will bring the fundraising cornhole tournament back to Horseshoe Lake on Sunday, Oct. 6, in front of the pavilion. It is the  group's the fifth annual cornhole tournament,  according to Rotarian and organizer Steve Alford. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m. There will be cash prizes, gift certificates, music and food and drinks. Last year, Alford said $38,000 was raised.
