Details Lance Martin News 02 July 2026 166 Please Rate A federal judge Tuesday sentenced Timarcus Lavonnte Britt, 29, to 35 years in federal prison for robbing four gas stations while brandishing a gun. “Britt and his crew of thugs terrorized hard-working citizens as they prowled around Eastern NC one late night in July 2023. These men traded decades of their lives to steal a few bucks and cheap cigars.

One man is wanted and another has been charged as an accessory in the June 22 shooting deaths of two people in Roanoke Rapids. The wanted man — Eric Lamont Martin Jr. — is also wanted in a June 11 fatal shooting in Columbus County, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Lawrence Wiggins said today that investigators are working with Columbus County authorities to determine whether there is a connection between the three shooting deaths.

It holds photos of the American homefront while my father served in World War II. In its fragile pages are scenes from Princeton Farm Road, the town of Severn in the 1940s, and photos of a great-grandfather and other relatives whose names I’ve heard mentioned but never knew. Its binding gave way years ago, but the strong paper remains intact. Although some of the photos have loosened, I now look for ways to salvage what has become a priceless piece of local history to me.
