Rural Intelligence
Online/Digital
Rural Intelligence is a digital lifestyle magazine that celebrates the culture and country life throughout the Berkshires (MA), the Litchfield Hills (CT) and Columbia and Dutchess counties (NY). Since 2008 we’ve been introducing readers to places, people, and events they’re unlikely to read about anywhere else. Succinct stories cover to the events, cultural happenings, restaurants, shopping, parties, nonprofit organizations and personalities that make life so rich in our neck of the woods. Vibrant, upbeat, and sometimes a little quirky, this “good news” magazine is presented as a conversation with readers who consider Rural Intelligence the friend who shows them the best way to participate in all this region has to offer. We publish two free newsletters a week: RI Recommends on Tuesdays, and the Intelligence Report on Thursdays. Rural Intelligence also publishes a print edition each summer, a highly anticipated season preview filled with our recommendations for residents and visitors eager to experience all that the summer season in our region offers. Let's have fun together. Source

UFOs Land at Tanglewood—in New Concert that Invokes 1969 Local Sightings
One late summer night in the Berkshires in 1969, dozens (by some counts hundreds) of people reported seeing the same thing move through the sky: a large, silent object tracked across multiple towns by people who didn’t know each other and couldn’t explain what they saw. More than 50 years later, the story still hangs over the region. On May 1 at 7pm at Tanglewood, that history becomes part of a new work.

Curvy, Esoteric Estate in Hudson
Here is a special, crazy one that draws on esoteric architecture for its country charm. 14 Fabiano Boulevard in Hudson is so curvaceous it’s known as the “Old Turtle House.” Built in 1820, it’s a rare example of Italian/Russian-inspired Federal architecture, sitting above the road on two acres, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s a definite estate, with a circular driveway, old fireplaces, and 3,180 square feet of one-of-a-kind rooms with curvy glass.
1890 Hudson Row House
I always have room for a beautiful Hudson row house. This one’s name is the Fritts Crawford House, and it’s an 1890 Victorian with renovations at 19 8th Street, near the top of Warren and the train tracks. It has three bedrooms, two full baths, 2,058 square feet of living space, and rare off-street parking for up to five cars.
Tucked-Away Chatham Contemporary
This is a beautiful situation, tucked away in Chatham with a winding driveway and 11 acres. Willow Pond Retreat is at 40 Engel Road, a modern Cape house in view of a pond and willow trees. It’s cute but large, 2,846 square feet, with four bedrooms and seven bathrooms. This house was built in 1984 and it has updated 1984 aesthetics, plus a newly lined in-ground pool.
1860 Colonial in West Stockbridge
Here’s a great-looking Colonial with a name and updates to important infrastructure. Built in 1860 and known as the George Tyler Homestead, 16 Swamp Road in West Stockbridge is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath, 1,842-square-foot farmhouse-style cottage on 1.54 acres. It has lots of original details: wood-paneled living room, a big brick hearth, vintage kitchen, and a split staircase.
December at the Foundry Brings Inclusive Merriment
December in the Berkshires always sparkles, but the Foundry is determined to crank the wattage all the way up. The West Stockbridge arts hub is rolling into the holiday season with a month-long slate of comedy, drag, global music, and community performances that embrace nostalgia with a thoroughly modern, irreverent perspective.
