When Harrison and Rye squared off in the annual Andrew Gurgitano Memorial game on May 9, the result was—quite fittingly—a pitchers duel. In the end, however, it was some timely hitting by the Garnets that accounted for their victory, as a two-run sixth inning helped them avenge an early-season loss to the Huskies and come away with a 2-0 win.

Harrison tops Rye in defensive battle
When Harrison squared off against rival Rye on Wednesday, they had two goals; downing a familiar foe and keeping a season-long winning streak intact. The game featured fantastic efforts in the circle from Harrison ace Gabriella Triano and Rye eighth grader Penelope Gilmore who both tossed four frames of scoreless ball to start the game.
Garnets handle John Jay
The Rye lacrosse team came into their April 20 game against John Jay looking to wipe away the taste of a tough loss to Scarsdale from earlier in the week. They did just that, dominating a potential playoff foe and earning a 10-4 win in the process. Four different Garnets scored multiple goals in Thursday’s win, as Kian McCarthy, Tyler McDermott, Andrew Keller, and Garrett Sullivan all found the net twice. According to McCarthy, that unselfishness marked an improvement for the Garnets.

In an effort to promote transparency and accountability among County elected officials, the Westchester County Board of Legislators voted 15-0 to approve the “Truthful Disclosure for Candidates” bill (2023-86) tonight.
