Mt. SAC’s Equity Center presented “Seeds of Change: Lessons from Farmworker communities on Labor, Justice, and Solidarity” on March 26, where they highlighted the unseen Filipino labor workers that kickstarted the United Farm Workers Movement. During the event, several short films were shown explaining the struggles of the United Farm Workers in pursuit of better wages and working conditions. They explored the often overlooked roles of women and the Filipino community in the fight.

We’ve all been there. We’re sitting down watching a movie when a random make out scene happens and you kind of sit there like, “What the hell is this?” I’ve felt that a lot recently. I’ve decided to take on the gargantuan task of watching every Marvel movie in order and I’ve come to a realization. I feel Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and so many more fall in love and have that be one of the main propellants behind their heroism. And I am tired of it.

As the Trump administration continues to march forward, students enrolled in schools and colleges across the U.S. now fear that inclusionary programs considered DEI, are at risk of abolishment. DEI or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, are blueprints meant to promote fair treatment of individuals who belong to underrepresented communities. It’s meant to restrict discrimination based on gender, race and disability.

It’s pointless and meandering. Eventful but seemingly uneventful at the same time. But that’s exactly the point — and precisely what makes it so effective.

Your Dodgers have won the World Series.” The now famous words said by broadcaster Joe Davis rang through virtually every household in Los Angeles County as Walker Buehler flung a curveball through Alex Verdugo, sealing the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series victory. A moment that could only be described as pure joy and validation, one that, for many fans, felt overdue.

It can definitely get confusing. Like, what actually makes a slider different from a sweeper? And how is a curveball not the same thing as a slurve? Believe it or not, knowing what kind of pitch the pitcher is throwing can make the game way more fun to watch.

You hurriedly scramble out of bed to begin dressing yourself and what usually feels like an eternity passes in a flash and before you know it, you’re out the door, making your way to your nearest retailer.

After a morning class at noon, you go to the Student Center between classes to get some work done. As you walk downstairs, you finally find an open place to sit among the crowd. Opening up your laptop, you see out of the corner of your eye a grown man being cradled by who you assume to be his girlfriend, burrowing his face into her lap while also caressing her chest. Get a room (that’s not on campus).

At the busy entrance of Mt. SAC’s humanities building 26A, hundreds of students pass by a sleek and trendy-looking vending machine that’s packed with drinks in the morning and almost empty by the afternoon. The Mycha vending machine offers perishable but popular Asian drinks to students like matcha milk tea, Thai tea and even Vietnamese coffee in a cafe-style plastic cup. But can you trust vending machine boba with staying fresh?
