The “Find the Ducks” scavenger hunt that just ended at Sacramento City College was designed to raise awareness about suicide prevention and engage students in talking about mental health. For the scavenger hunt, students were encouraged to find any of the 30 ducks hidden around campus and then bring the duck to the Student Health and Wellness Center to be entered into a drawing for a prize.

The Sacramento City College Panthers lost to the San Francisco City College Rams 16-17 on Saturday, Aug. 5 for the Panthers’ first game of the season. For the first two quarters, the Panthers held a lead against the Rams, but the game ended with the Rams handing the Panthers their first loss. The Panthers headed to practice Monday ahead of their next game against Butte College on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The Los Rios Community College District experienced a PeopleSoft and eServices outage that coincided with the beginning of the fall semester on Aug. 22 and resolved the evening of Aug. 27. For the duration of the outage, students from all four Los Rios colleges were unable to access financial aid, class schedules, enrollment, records, forms and transcripts, services essential to their academic life.

Sacramento City College Kondos Galley has opened its spring exhibit, “The Other Half,” an installment of artwork by five full-time art professors  that includes a selection of paintings, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics and sculpture. The Kondos Gallery opened in the 1930’s. Faculty member and noted California artist Gregory Kondos became director of the gallery In the mid 1970. Kondos retired from the college’s art department in1982  and the gallery was renamed in his honor.

The Sacramento City College Writing Center is a free campus resource for enrolled students, and it is an invaluable service for students who need support or extra help with writing. I have worked at the Writing Center since the Fall of 2025, and have seen first-hand the difference it can make in a student’s academic success. The Writing Center is located on the first floor of the library on campus (LRC 144).

A vast amount of resources that extend beyond the books exist for City College students. Is life not going as expected? If so, resources are available to students with little to no requirements or qualifications on getting through school.

Sacramento City College women’s wrestling team has captured the championship of the Big 8 conference with an undefeated 8-0 record in conference matches and had strong performances that sent the team to the state championship. By capturing the conference title in two consecutive years and with improved results in the state  championship, City College has shown it is not new to successful college wrestling. “We had a very historic weekend.

David Burke, known publicly as the rising singer-songwriter D4vd, was arrested April 16 on suspicion of the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 14-years old at the time of her death. Burke went viral on the popular platform TikTok in 2022, with hit songs “Here with me” and “Romantic homicide” with both songs having over a billion streams on spotify.

(Luna Vazquez) Caminos De La Ciudad (City Pathways) has announced that the program will be terminated in September 2026 due to the loss of funding for Hispanic Serving Institutions, unless new funding can be secured.
