September 10, 2026 3 minutes reading time Earlier today the leaders, Kojiro Shiraishi’s DMG MORI Global One (JPN), were hitting speeds close to 30 knots in southerly winds as they made the most of flat water to the north of a high pressure zone that is moving to the south-east. The Japanese entry has continued to benefit from its positioning move many days earlier in the race to be the most southerly boat in the leading group.

The breeze finally picked up around 13:00, and the first Gold Fleet race got underway at 13:15, followed by the Silver Fleet, in around 8 knots. Conditions varied between 7 and 9 knots during the race before slowly dying away to 4–5 knots by the finish. After that single set of races, the wind dropped further still, to just 1–2 knots.

September 10, 2026 2 minutes reading time With the forecast suggesting the wind would become progressively lighter during the afternoon, Principal Race Officer Ewa Jodlowska opted for an early start at 11:00. The decision paid off, with the Race Committee making the most of a 7–12 knot breeze to complete the full four-race programme on the first day of the Final Series for both fleets before conditions deteriorated.

The department will bring together Participation & Development, Sustainability, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Para Inclusive Sailing, and Steering the Course, World Sailing’s programme to create and promote more opportunities for women in sailing.

Emma Wilson and Andy Brown begin their title defences at a venue they know intimately, facing exceptionally deep international fleets in the battle to retain their rainbow crowns. The opening day delivered racing conditions from the outset, allowing the Race Committee to launch straight into Upwind Sprints.

This afternoon the top three teams were separated by fewer than 11 nautical miles in terms of distance to the finish as they sailed upwind in 10–15-knot south-easterly winds. Ahead lies a volatile light-wind zone that the frontrunners will need to pick their way through with care before they break through into faster downwind sailing again. At 1200 UTC / 1400 CEST today Kojiro Shiraishi’s DMG MORI Global One (JPN) topped the rankings with 1,203 nm to race.

Racing got underway today at the 2026 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship, with all three fleets completing three races each. The first warning signal went out at 12:00 as planned, in a breeze that ranged from 12 to 20 knots, gusting up to 25, averaging around 16 knots. The sea wasn’t wavy so much as choppy, driven by the offshore breeze meeting the current.

Hosted by the Royal Yachting Association in partnership with the International iQFOiL Class Association, the championship returns Olympic windsurfing to one of the sport’s most iconic venues. Home of the sailing competitions at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Weymouth has long been regarded as one of the world’s premier racing locations, offering a wide variety of conditions capable of testing every aspect of modern foiling.

September 7, 2026 3 minutes reading time After two days of registration and equipment inspection, 108 sailors representing 44 countries will start racing tomorrow, continuing through to Saturday 12 September for the World title and medals. The event format will be the same used last week for the ILCA 7 Men’s Worlds, with five days of Qualifying Series for all fleets, before the final day sees two Final Series races for the Top 10, and one last Qualifying Series race for the rest of sailors.

The US looked beaten as the Bonds Flying Roos led the Final from the opening mark, but Canfield’s crew refused to give up, hunting down the Aussies before ultimately passing them for a statement victory. It was the U.S. team’s first event win since the KPMG Sydney Sail Grand Prix back in March, and their first Final appearance since that triumph.
