Just after 5p.m. Tuesday, a 2002 Dodge Ram driven by 71-year-old Edgard Mareno of Wellington was southbound on U.S. 81 in rural Saline County, according to Sheriff Roger Soldan. Mareno noticed a fire in the bed of the vehicle and pulled over. Photo Saline Co. Sheriff He was unable to extinguish the fire.

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Major League Baseball today announced that Carter Jensen has been named American League Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 31-Sept. 6. This is Jensen’s first career American League Player of the Week honor and the second by a Royal this season, joining Bobby Witt Jr. (May 4-10). Mr. Unselt was born at US Air Force Base Burtonwood, Warrington, England, on December 17, 1953. The son of Albert Ray Unselt and Enid B (Hill) Michtnick.Russ graduated from Salina High School. He joined the US Navy in 1973 serving his country for 6 years.
