Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had good and long-standing relations with US President Donald Trump and thanked him for what he described as sincere efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Speaking at the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Moscow and answering questions from participants, Putin said his relationship with Trump had remained good over many years.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Shahid Khattak said on Thursday that the party's long march will begin from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat at 1pm. Khattak said that a caravan led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will leave for Lakki Marwat. "On the first day, caravans from Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Waziristan will gather in Lakki Marwat before the march begins its journey from the district," he maintained.

The federal government increased on Thursday the price of petrol by Rs3.26 per litre and reduced the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.01 per litre under the daily petroleum pricing formula. Petrol will now cost Rs390.66 per litre, while the price of HSD has been fixed at Rs399.34 per litre, according to a government notification. The latest change comes a day after the government slightly reduced the prices of both fuels with effect from October 1.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to end its long march unconditionally. Bhutto-Zardari spoke by telephone with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and discussed the political situation in the province. A drone attack by the Houthi militia targeted the Taibah Power Distribution Station in Madinah on Tuesday morning, shutting down one transformer, according to allied forces. The attack did not affect the overall electricity system, the allied forces said. More than 7.5 million citizens have benefited from the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme since its launch on September 15, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, describing the development as a matter of satisfaction. Over 8.4 million people have so far registered under the petrol subsidy scheme, while over 7.5 million citizens have received the subsidy, officials told a meeting chaired by the prime minister to review the scheme’s progress.

The Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said camps belonging to Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan had been completely destroyed at two locations in areas under the control of the Afghan Taliban. The ministry said precise air and drone strikes targeted the terrorist hideouts and camps. Large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the sites were also destroyed, according to the ministry.

A 3.5-metre-long shark trapped in a canal in the South Korean city of Busan has become a major attraction for residents and tourists. According to Korean media reports, about 600,000 people have visited the canal over the past two weeks to see the shark. The shark was first spotted on September 18 in a narrow canal at North Port. Authorities tried to move it back to the sea using water jets, but the operation failed.
