Written by Avery Melhado. Visuals by Avery Melhado. On April 22, SCAD design students gathered in Poetter Hall for Adobe’s Creative Cafe event. The excitement in the room was palpable, with Adobe merch being handed out and year-long Creative Cloud memberships being raffled off. Of course, what everyone was really there for was the panel discussion with Adobe SCAD alumni–a chance to hear valuable insight from professionals who were in our same positions just a few years ago.

On May 18, 2026, I didn’t expect to wake up to 20 missed calls or to throw off my bed sheets with fury–but that’s what you do when Phoebe Bridgers, indie darling and brilliant singer-songwriter, is performing five minutes from you. Phoebe Bridgers transformed into a household name after her album “Punisher”became the soundtrack to most teenage girls’ lives during COVID.

One day you’re romanticizing the quarter, telling yourself you’re finally “locked in,” and the next day you’re calculating whether you really need sleep before that 8 a.m. critique. Staying chill and normal through all of that is less a skill and more a lifestyle choice. I’ve learned that you don’t need to have everything perfectly together to be calm.

What started as a way to fundraise for the Met’s Costume Institute has become another exclusive event for celebrities to flaunt their wealth while the rest of us can hardly afford gas. However, what made the Met Gala different from every other red carpet was the theme that guests are required to follow.

Visuals by Sarah Walker. “Oh my god…I love your outfit.” “Thanks, I made it!” While waiting in line for SCAD Fashion 2026, the group of extravagantly accessorized fashion students grew behind me. Adorned with handmade bangles and skirts, sharp winged liner and slicked-back hair, they made me acutely aware of how incredibly out of place I felt, and I wondered how many hobbies I’d need to take up to get on their level. Knitting, sewing, or metalworking? Maybe all three?

Written by Camryn Carmichael. Graphic by Ananya Panchal. As my junior year comes to a close, I often find myself reminiscing on my life before SCAD. Back home, I went to community college straight out of high school. With both parents at work, I had to depend on public transportation to get to my classes–and there was definitely a learning curve. Despite practicing with my parents that weekend, I still missed my stop on the first day of school.

My aunts can speak French, my last name is French, why wouldn’t I give it a try? I was pretty okay at it, and graduated high school with a certificate that alleges I’m bilingual. I suppose I can make my way around France or Quebec, as long as the locals don’t talk too fast.

Written by David Sikarevich. Visuals by David Sikarevich. My roommate and I almost missed the garden entirely. Only a single green sign indicated that we were in the right place. When we stepped out of the car, a light rain shower greeted us, and my camera caught a few drops as well. Accustomed to the New York Botanical Garden, I expected Savannah’s to be average. To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.

The brief is still open on your screen, the rubric hasn’t changed, but something in the work has shifted. Suddenly, you’re not making it for the grade anymore. You’re making it because you have to. Every SCAD student knows the overwhelming feeling of constant output.

Written by Nasir Harrison. Visuals by Nasir Harrison. A buzzed head here, and a split-dyed afro there. At SCAD, there are a multitude of crazy and creative hairstyles around every corner. In my humble opinion, the diversity in how people style their hair on campus is one of the most interesting things to see.
